Crunchyroll Adds Eiga Given: Hiiragi Mix

Given Franchise Expands with Debut of New Anime Films

In a move that excites anime lovers worldwide, Crunchyroll unveiled "Eiga Given: Hiiragi Mix." This is the first film in a two-part series based on Natsuki Kizu’s acclaimed manga, Given. Fans across North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS can now stream it.

The first film premiered in Japan on January 27, setting the stage for Centimillimental to shine with the evocative theme song, "Super Ultra I Love You." It weaves a familiar story of love, music, and a search for passion.

The second installment, "Eiga Given: Umi e (Given The Movie: To the Sea)," released on September 20. Loyal followers anticipate how this sequel will evolve the narrative and the characters they’ve grown to love.

A Saga of Music and Love

Given’s universe first came to life as a television anime, debuting on Fuji TV’s Noitamina programming block in July 2019. It broke new ground as the first anime based on a boys-love manga to air on this platform. Crunchyroll was quick to stream the series, later adding an English dub in August 2022.

The heart of Given centers on Ritsuka Uenoyama, a guitarist who loses his spark. This changes when he meets Mafuyu Sato. Mafuyu’s voice rekindles Ritsuka’s musical passion, and their journey intertwines melodically. It’s a tale that resonates deeply, challenging characters and viewers to rediscover love in unexpected places.

The franchise also ventured into film, with an anime adaptation that premiered in Japan in May 2020. Crunchyroll made it accessible to a global audience in 2021, maintaining the momentum of this beloved series.

Manga to Multitude

Kizu originally launched the Given manga in Shinshokan’s Cheri+ magazine back in 2014. It captivated readers for nearly a decade and culminated with the ninth and final volume in September 2023. Its success prompted new extra stories launched in early 2024, ensuring the story continues to flourish.

International publishing, led by Viz Media’s SuBLime imprint, has brought the boys-love narratives to global readers. Meanwhile, back in Japan, a live-action series adaptation premiered in July 2021, also streaming on Crunchyroll, proving the versatility and enduring appeal of Given.

For those eager to immerse in a world where music intertwines with emotions, Given offers a thoughtful and intense experience. Amid the romance and melodies, both films promise to deliver a captivating continuation of the saga that fans cherish ardently.
