Murder Mysteries Unfold in Only Murders in the Building Season 4
By August Tales
The fourth season of “Only Murders in the Building” opens with a new murder mystery. As the troop contemplates a respite from homicide-solving, Charles’ friend Sazz’s demise puts them back in action. Clues from Sazz’s apartment suggest that she might have been embroiled in a mystery of her own. More shockingly, Charles may be the intended target.
A Murder in Charles’ Apartment
The murder transpires in Charles’ apartment, with Sazz found dressed as him. This startling scenario, coupled with Sazz’s last message — “tap in”, makes it seem probable that Charles was the planned victim. Their suspicion soon falls upon the 14th floor residents due to evidence suggesting the fatal shot came from their building. Still, with plenty of red herrings, fans should anticipate a roller-coaster of revelations and suspects.
Jan Bellows – Meeting Past Ghosts
Jan, Charles’s jailbird ex-girlfriend is part of this eventful web. Her unexpected comeback and Sazz’s revelations about Charles seem suspiciously intertwined. As a convicted murderer who dated both Charles and Sazz, Jan certainly fits the bill as a possible assassin. Is she keeping a close watch on Charles and Sazz? All signs point to yes.
Her input on murder methods and theories linking the body’s disposal to the real target adds depth to the plot. The sniper-style execution hints at the impersonality of the act, making fans suspect that Sazz was the actual target and Charles is next in line.
Misjudging Stink-Eye Joe
An interesting character in this saga is “Stink-eye Joe,” not his real name. Named by Charles due of his hostile appearance and odd mannerisms, Joe turns out to be Vince Fish, a seemingly nice, albeit strange and occasionally anti-social resident of the 14th floor. If Vince turns out to be the killer, the show’s past events might need to be reinterpreted.
Crushes and Suspicion
Charles’ timid demeanor doesn’t seem to deter Ana and her infatuation with him. However, the seemingly innocent sauce-making family reflects a bizarre aura under scrutiny. Ana, particularly, may not be content with her domestic life. The possibility of her misunderstanding Charles’ consistent gaze towards her apartment adds a twist.
A Permanent Christmas Spirit?
The enigmatic Christmas-all-the-time guy only deepens the mystery. Though Oliver and Mabel are yet to interview him, this character sustains his Christmas decorations throughout the year. He’s active, constantly exercising, and rarely seen. Could his persistently odd behavior be linked to the mystery unfolding?
Personal Demons
It also seems that someone from Charles’ past could be part of this murder riddle. The meticulous planning and execution of Sazz’s murder and the mysterious, angry messages hint towards a personal vendetta. A person from Charles’s previous work crew could possibly be the murderer.
Scott Bakula – A Red Herring?
Scott Bakula, portraying himself in the series, emerges as a possible suspect. Sazz’s aspirations to be his stunt person and Charles being a potential hindrance frame Bakula as suspicious. The efficient execution and cleanup of the crime appear as the workings of a professional team, possibly hired by Bakula.
Lights, Camera, Action with Bev Melon
Bev Melon’s swift actions to convert the podcast into a movie scream of desperate ambition. The idea of another murder to hype up the movie only magnifies her intentions. Who knows what plots she might weave to gain the upper hand?
Dudenoff’s Apartment – A Hub of Suspicion
Dudenoff’s apartment, with its perpetually shut blinds and an unpredictable lighting pattern, suggests frequent usage. The curious signs like the apartment being accessible via code and Sazz knowing how to enter it points towards this space as the killer’s hideout.
A Jealous Spouse
Alfonso, Ana’s husband, cannot digest his wife’s crush on Charles. As a butcher, his expertise with a knife makes him a formidable suspect. Alfonso’s potential intention to murder Charles and Sazz’s possible knowledge about it deepen the plot.
Marshall’s Extreme Measures
Lastly, the overdetermined screenwriter Marshall adds another layer of uncertainty. His obsession, stress levels, and eagerness to observe and invigilate the characters open up another possible direction. Would he dare to orchestrate a real-life murder for an authentic storyline? Only time will tell.
