Paul Feig Collaborates with Blumhouse for New Film

Ghostbusters Director, Blumhouse Collaborate for Netflix True Crime Adaptation

Gather around, fans of the uncanny and the criminal. The man behind the curtain of Ghostbusters, Paul Feig, is reportedly gearing up for an eerie collaboration with Blumhouse. This time, he’s dipping his hand in the terrifying cookie jar of a Netflix true crime series, “Worst Roommate Ever”. Hollywood Reporter reveals that this dynamic duo will be cooking up a feature adaptation of the nail-biting show.

The plot is spun around a recently single woman who thinks she’s found her knight in shining armor to sublet a room in her dream home. But instead of Prince Charming, she scores herself an infamous serial squatting villain. Talk about not judging a book by its cover. This squatter’s web of lies is spun so well, it extends beyond a fabricated name and application. By the time she realizes this, it’s too late – she’s unwittingly hosting the squatter from hell, who’s prepared to fight tooth and nail to keep his ill-gotten piece of paradise. This, dear readers, is a gut-wrenching tale inspired by a 2018 New York Magazine piece penned by William Brennan.

Feig and Blumhouse: A Match Made For Suspense

The king of comedy, Feig is the brain behind laugh fests like Bridesmaids and The Heat. And boy, is he pumped up about dipping into the true crime genre and joining forces with Blumhouse. “Jason (Blum) and I have been prowling around to find just the right project to jack up the fear factor, to serve up dollops of dread soaked in dark comedy. In other words, I couldn’t be any more thrilled to share the filmmaking room with Jason,” he reported in a statement. The film has attracted a star-studded production team which includes Laura Fischer, Jason Blum, Chris Morgan, and Scoop Wasserstein. Ainsley Morgan and William Brennan, along with Bea Sequeira are billed as executive producers.

Blumhouse Pushing the Fright Envelope

Blumhouse has built a nightmare-inducing reputation by specializing in horror flicks. Their spine-chilling portfolio screams exceptional, having laid the foundation for Jordan Peele’s directorial career with the acclaimed films “Get Out” and “Us.” The era of big bucks riding on big names has seen Blumhouse snag rights to a slew of popular IPs. They’re the masterminds behind David Gordon Green’s Halloween trilogy and now hold the key to The Exorcist franchise.

This will mark Blum and Feig’s first union on the cinematic battlefield. In spite of the sinister subject material of Worst Roommate Ever, Blumhouse counts on Feig’s unique touch to blend horror with comedy. Gushing about his newest creative partner, Blum lauded, “Paul is your man when you need the perfect blend of shadow and light. To say I’m stoked to see what he brings to the table would be an understatement.” Talk about setting the expectations bar sky high!

Feig and Blum certainly sound like a union made in horror-comedy heaven. Here’s to hoping they serve up a spine-tingling, jaw-dropping spectacle with the upcoming adaptation of Worst Roommate Ever.
