Parks and Conditions: Rashida Jones on Potential Parks & Rec Revival
Riding the wave of reboot fever, fans of the hit sitcom Parks & Recreation eagerly anticipate a revival. However, Rashida Jones, beloved for her role as Ann Perkins, isn’t quite ready to return. Don’t despair just yet; there might still be hope with some creative thinking.
Jones has laid down a challenge that might perplex hardcore fans: she won’t sign up for a revival without a solid, worthy reason to revisit Pawnee. Having starred alongside Amy Poehler, Paul Schneider, and Aziz Ansari, Jones spent a significant part of her life in this fictional town. The show, airing from 2009 to 2015, even made a special return during the 2020 pandemic. While the characters remain beloved and timelines continue to entertain, a full-scale revival feels as distant as Eagleton from Pawnee.
A Conditional Return
In a recent chat on the Bingeworthy podcast, Jones shared her views on a potential revival. Still close with her castmates, Jones is open to reuniting under the right circumstances. She explained, “We’re all still friends. We have a text chain. We talk all the time. We really love each other. If there was a reason and a way that we would come back together, great! But doing it just for the sake of doing it because nobody has any new ideas? That I don’t want to do necessarily. But yeah, I think we’re all so down if the moment’s right and the reason is right, for sure.”
A Worthy Idea Needed
To see Leslie Knope and the gang back in action, fans will need more than just internet buzz. They need a compelling idea. Until then, savor the golden moments of Pawnee’s past and speculate on an uncertain future.
