Guest Stars for Poker Face S2 Include…

New Faces to Ante Up in Poker Face Season 2

August Tales traces the trajectory of the hit Peacock show, Poker Face. After a successful inaugural season teeming with guest stars, season two plans to continue this trend. Joining the cast this time are some of television’s most notable faces.

Cynthia Erivo, Margo Martindale, and BJ Novak are set to join series lead Natasha Lyonne in the upcoming season. Novak, a name synonymous with The Office’s Ryan, boasts an impressive tally of five Emmy nominations from his stint on the series. Martindale packs a punch with three Emmy awards for her roles in The Americans and Justified. Erivo is set to rock the silver screen in the coming Wicked movie, scheduled for a November 22 premiere. This multi-talented performer was previously nominated for two Oscars for her role in Harriet.

A Star-studded Second Season

The latest additions to Poker Face join a line-up already filled with stellar performers. Already gracing the season are stars like Katie Holmes, Giancarlo Esposito, Gaby Hoffmann, Kumail Nanjiani, Sherry Cola, Ben Marshall, Kevin Corrigan, and Katherine Narducci. Season 1 saw the likes of Simon Helberg, Nick Nolte, Ron Perlman, Adrien Brody, Ellen Barkin, Rhea Perlman, Hong Chau, Lil Rel Howery, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Daniel Burns making cameo appearances.

Poker Face: A Viewer & Critic Favorite

Developed by Rian Johnson, Poker Face revolves around casino worker Charlie Cale, played by Lyonne. This character possesses the uncanny ability to detect dishonesty, doubling as a pseudo-detective on her cross-country journeys. The debut season was met with critical acclaim, while series lead Lyonne was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards.

Season 2: Production Underway

The Peacock series, renewed for a second season in 2023, kick-started production for the newest episodes in July 2024. Tony Tost, the director and scribe of the series, heralded the onset of production with a social media post featuring a clapperboard snapshot. The post infers that Natasha Lyonne herself would be guiding the team behind the camera for the second episode of the new season.

Creator Johnson has expressed his plans for the series, saying, “Charlie’s story is something we’re excited to keep exploring.” While Johnson admits there’s an overarching narrative, for him, it’s more about keeping Charlie on the move and engaged in small mysteries featuring an exciting cast. The end goal, he says, is to sustain this cycle.

While we’re all eager for new episodes, Poker Face season 2 currently doesn’t have a release date. Details are shortly expected.
