Bobby Moynihan Eyes Live-Action Star Wars Role
By August Tales
Would you be up for playing a weird alien creature? Bobby Moynihan, known for his stint on Saturday Night Live and currently delighting audiences as Bobarian Afol a.k.a “Jedi Bob” in Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, certainly is. In fact, he dreams of one day bringing Jedi Bob to life in a live-action format, channeling the less conventional Jedi spirit that his comedic persona perfectly captures.
This Star Wars spinoff debuted on Disney+ a fortnight ago. Besides Moynihan, its cast boasts of Gaten Matarazzo, Tony Revolori, Ahmed Best, and others. In fact, even if Moynihan doesn’t assume the Jedi Bob mantle for live action, he finds the idea of playing a quirky alien in the Star Wars universe quite enticing.
“I have a great time doing Star Wars acting – my aspiration is to be in a live-action Star Wars,” Moynihan shared enthusiastically. “My dream is to portray an alien where my face is well-disguised – perhaps a slug-like creature. A dreamy vision is me in a live-action orca costume, scaled down. That’s the stuff of my dreams!”
LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy Cast & Tale
Imagine a universe where the good guys turn bad and bad guys are now the good guys! That’s what happens in the fun and twisted world of Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy.
The tale leaps into action when an average nerf-herder, Sig Greebling, stumbles upon a potent artifact from a secretive Jedi temple, landing him smack in the middle of an adventure. Now, Greebling has to step up and save his galaxy by putting the pieces back together.
The cast of Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy includes Gaten Matarazzo of Stranger Things fame, Saturday Night Live’s Bobby Moynihan, Tony Revolori from the Spider-Man Trilogy, Marsai Martin from Black-ish, and Michael Cusack from Smiling Friends. Also starring are Ahmed Best as Darth Jar Jar and Mark Hamill reprising his role as Luke Skywalker.
The executive producer James Waugh said, “LEGO Star Wars has always provided an avenue for fans to unleash their creativity and ‘Rebuild the Galaxy’ in completely unique ways, thanks to the collaboration between Lucasfilm and The LEGO Group.” He expressed his excitement to work with talented comedy writers Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit, noting, “Imperial X-fighters, Rebel TIE-wings, and yes, even Darth Jar Jar – all represent a fun exploration of what happens when these two amazing brands come together.”
