Danny Ramirez Not in Thunderbolts*
Welcome to another piece from the pen of August Tales, stepping you through the cinematic universe of Marvel. This report contains a critical update: Danny Ramirez will not star in Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts*. The actor, who birthed the character Joaquin Torres/Falcon into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is evidently not expanding his superhero roles.
Ramirez’s Marvel Journey So Far
Ramirez brought Joaquin Torres/Falcon to life in 2021 through The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Fans will delight in knowing that he’s reprising the role for Captain America: Brave New World. This awaited sequel to Captain America shrugs aside suspense, promising a release in February 2025.
The Rumor Mill Runs Rapid
Cautiously spreading a rumor, Variety initially declared that Ramirez would feature in Thunderbolts*. This feature comes hot on the heels of Captain America: Brave New World, with an expected release three months later. The online magazine advised Lewis Pullman to consult Ramirez about stepping into Joaquin Phoenix’s shoes for Todd Haynes’ still-unnamed queer drama. However, the line asserting Ramirez’s involvement in Thunderbolts was retracted shortly after publication. This shift hints towards the falsity of the initial claim.
Inside the Realm of Marvel’s Thunderbolts*
So, with Ramirez out, who’s in? Pullman will be there, joined by Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova and Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes. Not to forget David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster. Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine also packed their superhero gear.
The Debut Date and Unveiling of the Asterisk
Directed by Jake Schreier, Thunderbolts* is pegged for a May 2, 2025, release. The curious asterisk in the title has been the seeds of speculation. Kevin Feige has teased that its significance will be disclosed later.
Emerging Faces in Captain America: Brave New World
Meanwhile, Captain America: Brave New World pairs Ramirez’s Falcon with Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, and Giancarlo Esposito as Seth Voelker/Sidewinder, among others. The movie plans to illuminate Valentine’s Day in 2025 successfully. Buckle up, Marvel fans—excitement is on the horizon.
