By August Tales
Okay fans, Kyle Chandler confirms he is Hal Jordan. He’s riding shotgun with Aaron Pierre who’ll play John Stewart in DC Studios’ Lanterns. Important name checks from the team behind the scenes: Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, Tom King.
Lanterns: Who’s Lighting Up the Screen
Chandler’s entry came two weeks after rumors about his final talks for the role. So, here’s the new ensemble. We have Chandler, acclaimed for his roles in Friday Night Lights and Mayor of Kingstown. Then we have Aaron Pierre from Netflix’s Rebel Ridge. The two are headlining the Green Lantern series, crafted in eight episodes.
Yet, there’s more to the story.
Time to Turn Back the Pages
Back in June, King had something to say about Lanterns. A project that had been kept under wraps for over a year. Part brainchild of King and Warner Bros, it was getting real.
“Chris, Damon, and I created it; Chris is writing and running it while Damon and I write and executive produce”, King said, finally letting the cat out of the bag. It all sounded like an ecstatic outpouring of everything he had been holding in. Thanks to James Gunn, he had something to say about the series, now made public.
Superheroes At Their Best
The superhero show promises to balance comic glories with the allure of an HBO drama. Lighting up the lantern ally inspired by the past and present creativity of the Lantern comic creators, King seemed thrilled about the opportunity. With fond memories of his late mother, a Warner exec, King connected to the project on a personal level.
In a joint statement, Casey Bloys, Chairman/CEO of HBO, and Max Content mentioned their excitement about the fresh take on Green Lantern. Stoked by the partnership with Chris Mundy and Damon Lindelof, “This first new live-action series will mark an exciting new era”, they said.
Lanterns: More Than Just a Show
In fact, the initial word from Safran was that this series would play a pivotal role in the upcoming New DC Universe. Deemed as a “huge HBO-quality event”, the Green Lantern series is set to focus on characters Hal Jordan and John Stewart.
Safran claimed that the mystery these two investigate will play a significant role in the main story. Interestingly, this saga will span across TV and film. James Hawes, revered for his work in Slow Horses and Penny Dreadful, is all set to direct the first few episodes of the series.
Stay tuned as we continue to keep you updated on this exciting new project. Happy viewing, DC Fans!
