Marvel Revises X-Men Timeline

Time Runs Short: The X-Men’s Race Against Vacuna

This week, Marvel fans dived deep into the future of the X-Men with Timeslide #1. Crafted by Steve Foxe and artist Ivan Fiorelli, this tale is a thrilling time dance. Bishop and Cable find themselves caught in a tense timeline of the Marvel Universe. It’s a journey against time to warn mutantkind of an ominous threat — Vacuna.

Vacuna, a creation of the Children of the Vault, poses a unique danger. This enigmatic figure can traverse through time, consuming pivotal moments that form the mutant legacy. If unchecked, Vacuna could erase the very existence of mutants. Enter Tempus, who takes Bishop to the year 3077 to find Cable. The mission is simple yet dire: stop Vacuna before time itself unravels.

A Fraying Timestream Unfolds

With time in disarray, the stakes couldn’t be higher for Bishop and Cable. Doctor Doom’s reign, Luke Cage’s future rise, and the predicted fall of the X-Men are mere glimpses of potential futures—futures Tempus herself questions. Armed with timesliders, Bishop and Cable leap into significant mutant history moments. Their task? Intercept and thwart Vacuna as history hangs in the balance.

One pivotal encounter sends them to the iconic X-Men battle against Dark Phoenix. Yet, something’s amiss. Kamala Khan, much earlier than anticipated, joins the fray. With time further mangled, their journey jumps ahead, meeting a seasoned Trista Marshall, also known as Bronze.

Future’s Grim Whisperings

Bronze, standing as one of the last X-Men, shares chilling revelations. Doug Ramsey, under the guise of Revelation, achieved what Apocalypse could not — ending the X-Men. She maps out the critical junctures leading to this grim potential, guiding Bishop and Cable’s next moves.

Their next stop is ancient Egypt, facing Apocalypse himself. From there, it’s to Magneto’s Genosha, the tragic battleground against Cassandra Nova’s Wild Sentinels. Bishop even defends his sister Shard in a distant Detroit future. Everywhere they leap, Vacuna looms. Each time, the threat spirals through mutant history in eras like Chile’s Fall of X.

A Plan to Alter Destiny

In the nick of time, Tempus arrives with a daring plan. The focus is to trap Vacuna in a time bubble, returning them all to the Crèche’s past. There, forcing Vacuna to consume his own creation’s moment nullifies him. Time breathes a sigh of relief, as the consumed moments return, untouched.

Tempus’ parting words aren’t without gravity. "Mutantkind will never know how close it came to the end." She warns Bishop and Cable against dwelling on these future glimpses, ominously noting, “It can be a real mindf#%& when the future feels like your past.”

In this whirlwind of timelines and uneasy alliances, storylines like Cable’s continue to expand. His narrative picks up threads in upcoming releases, broadening the tapestry of the Marvel Universe into fierce new directions.
