British Comics Now returns in 2025, offering golden opportunities to creators in the UK. Aiming to elevate British comics on the global stage, the initiative is driven by the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. Its mission is clear: boost exposure, distribution, and recognition for Britain’s vibrant comic and graphic novel scene. The program continues its journey from 2024 into new realms of artistic possibility.

Exciting Ventures at the Comic Art Museum

This year’s spotlight event is at the Comic Art Museum in Brussels. On the weekend of October 17 – 19, 2025, British comic magic takes center stage. The museum’s “Museum Night Fever” opens doors late, creating a unique backdrop for creativity. British and Belgian creators will engage in various events and speed-dating sessions with publishers. Networking opportunities abound, providing a platform for creators to share and refine ideas.

This is a chance to shine at one of the most renowned comic art museums. Artists can present their works to an eager international audience. Feedback from seasoned publishers and connections with Belgian talents await those daring to seize the day.

Calling All Creative Minds

LICAF seeks four talented creators for workshops and live drawing sessions. These artists will captivate audiences with discussions and masterclasses on intriguing subjects. Travel, accommodation, and meals are covered, with a pre-event briefing in London preceding the Eurostar ride to Brussels.

Another exciting venture is the British Comics Now catalogue. This compiled work, promoted between October 2025 and September 2026, will showcase new British talent. Targeted at overseas publishers and industry players, the catalogue aims to highlight rights-available comics.

Thirty creators will feature in this edition, decided by a discerning panel. Applications for both initiatives are due by February 21, 2025, with decisions announced by March 28. Prospective applicants can download necessary forms from the festival’s website.
