Despite the recent success of HBO’s The Penguin, Farrell remains coy. He told Variety, "I don’t want it. I don’t not want it." The star believes they’ve already given their all during the eight-episode run. Fans and critics alike adored the show, with Rotten Tomatoes granting it a stellar 95%. However, Farrell fears returning might dilute its impact. As he put it, he has no burning desire to dive back in.

The Rise of Oz Cobb

Farrell’s journey as DC’s Oswald "Oz" Cobb began in Matt Reeves’ 2022 flick, The Batman. His performance was intense, leading to the character’s spinoff in 2024 with HBO’s The Penguin. "Sure, if they think of something that works in conjunction as a parallel to Matt Reeves’ cinematic universe and it’s a good idea, I’m open to it," Farrell stated. His decision hinges on a script that aligns with DC’s overarching narrative. It’s clear Farrell harbors a deep respect for the storytelling process.

Looking Ahead in Gotham

Don’t count Oz Cobb out just yet. Fans are likely to see him return in the highly anticipated The Batman 2, expected in 2027. The Penguin’s first season finale left tantalizing hints. Oz turned on his closest ally as the Bat-Signal illuminated the night, setting a thrilling stage for the next Batman movie. However, production details remain sparse, with the script still unwritten.
