Anthony Mackie has stepped confidently into the leading role of Marvel Studios’ latest blockbuster, Captain America: Brave New World. Nervous at first about sharing the screen with Hollywood legend Harrison Ford, Mackie found his fears dissipated after that pivotal first day of shooting. The film, slated for a February release in the United States, introduces Ford as Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross. He steps into the role previously played by the late William Hurt, who passed away in March 2022.

Mackie recently shared the details of his initial apprehension on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. He admitted the first day brought some nerves, but the real focus was on an unexpected amusing moment. "There was a guy," Mackie mused with a chuckle, "who couldn’t get his line right, and it made me feel better."
Ford, it turns out, has a laid-back approach that instantly put Mackie at ease. "Harrison is dope because, every time before we roll, he was like, ‘Let’s shoot this piece of s—.’ I’m like, ‘F— yeah, Harrison. Let’s shoot this piece of s—.’ He’s amazing. He is the coolest cat."
