New Hellboy Reboot Still Revealed!
Getting Reacquainted With Our Favorite Demon: Hellboy
Here’s some hot news for all the hellish enthusiasts out there. Distributor behemoth, Ketchup Entertainment, has just cranked up the anticipation for the upcoming reboot “Hellboy: The Crooked Man” by releasing a new still of Jack Kesy in the devilish lead role.
The image, initially shared on Ketchup Entertainment’s website and later sprinkled liberally across the social media platform X, captures Kesy’s Hellboy in the midst of a rustic forest retreat, savoring a cigar. Controversially dedicating their efforts to prosthetics and makeup as opposed to the often overused crutch of motion capture/CGI, the filmmakers turn the heat back on the original induction method of bringing our famed demon to life.
The Fiery Cast Members and Plot Twists
Breathing fire into our rebooted demonic protagonist is Jack Kesy, who clawed his way to the Hellboy role back in March 2023. Kesy’s fiery reputation is perhaps mostly owed to his memorable portrayal of Black Tom Cassidy in the 2018 box-office smash Deadpool 2. DP fans, remember him? Kesy has also scorched screens in the television series The Strain and Claws and made war in the intense 2020 film The Outpost.
He’s setting the stage alight opposite a talented and equally blazing cast. Among them are Martin Bassindale, Jefferson White, Adeline Rudolph, Joseph Marcell, Leah McNamara, and Hannah Margetson. The ensemble brings to life a plethora of characters from Jeremiah Witkins/Crooked Man and Professor Trevor “Broom” Bruttenholm to Effie Kolb and Cora Fisher.
Uncharacteristically, “Hellboy: The Crooked Man” is the first Hellboy movie to involve franchise creator, Mike Mignola, in a creative capacity, joining forces with Chris Golden to co-write the screenplay. With a 1950s setting, the thrilling storyline casts Hellboy and a rookie Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense agent into rural Appalachia. Their mission? To navigate a small community writhing under the spell of witches and led by The Crooked Man, inevitably uncovering a shivers-inducing link to Hellboy’s past.
Trailblazing Production Details
The embers of production on “The Crooked Man” burned bright and fierce in Bulgaria from March to May 2023, fuelled by director Brian Taylor of Crank and Ghost Rider fame. Produced by Millennium Media, the fiery feature managed to keep its budget to a cool $25 million. An intense trailer was teased earlier this month to start the wild hype fire among the fans.
But here comes the little hiccup – “Hellboy: The Crooked Man” still lacks a release date to be marked in flaming red on the calendar. So for now, folks, keep those pitchforks at bay and stay tuned for more devilishly good updates.
