In the Marvel universe, surprises have long been expected, especially in the form of post-credit scenes teasing what’s next. Yet, the buzz around the latest Disney+ series, "Agatha All Along," lies in what it didn’t deliver. When the series wrapped, there wasn’t the anticipated extra glimpse into the future. Instead, fans were left with only the end credits, which, though stylish, did not provide any new hints or fuel for wild new theories.
The Mystery of Missing Scenes
Showrunner Jac Schaeffer shed some light on the decision. In a chat with Variety, she revealed, "That’s a Marvel decision. I know nothing more than that." Though left in the dark regarding the lack of a post-credits twist, Schaeffer had penned some ideas. Unfortunately, Marvel decided to bypass them. "Yes, I wrote a number of tags," she shared. "They’re so fun to write, because you’re writing the promise without having to deliver on anything."
Despite not having additional scenes, "Agatha All Along" left room for new chapters. The finale saw Agatha, portrayed by Kathryn Hahn, transformed into a ghost. She becomes a guide alongside Billy, played by Joe Locke, forming a coven to search for his brother, Tommy. This storyline hints at further possibilities. The larger Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has introduced members from the Young Avengers, teasing potential new directions.
A Second Season Seems Distant
Despite an alluring narrative arc, there seems to be little chance for a second season of "Agatha All Along." The Disney+ series was always intended as a miniseries. This means future episodes weren’t initially in the cards. Another spinoff featuring Vision is already underway. This spinoff might make extending Agatha’s tale less feasible.
Like "WandaVision" evolved into "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," Agatha could segue into a broader project. Perhaps the Young Avengers will see the screen. Rumors also whisper of a "Doctor Strange 3" or even a Wanda-centric movie. Schaeffer has dismissed the latter, noting, "I know nothing of a Wanda movie." This absence leaves Scarlet Witch’s fate in the air, a lingering question for fans.
For now, "Agatha All Along" streams on Disney+ without its signature Marvel post-credits magic. But in the ever-expanding universe of heroes, witches, and unexpected journeys, who knows what the future holds?
