Cavan Scott Presents: GODFATHER OF HELL

October Release: Godfather of Hell – A Mob Enforcer’s Supernatural Journey

By August Tales

Prepare yourselves. This October, Vault plans to unleash ‘Godfather of Hell.’ It offers a fresh, chilling blend of neo-noir and supernatural tales. ‘Godfather’ embarks on a journey with a mob enforcer braving Hell itself. Penned by acclaimed writer, Cavan Scott, known for works like ‘Star Wars: The High Republic’ and ‘Shadow Service,’ the narrative dives into unchartered depths.

The graphic images painted by Bram Stoker Award recipient Pius Bak provide unity. He previously lent his talents to ‘Eat the Rich’ and ‘The Magicians.’ The artistry of Nathan Gooden, Joshua Hixson, Chris Shehan, Jake Phillips, Corin Howell, and Conor Boyle also graces this groundbreaking series.

Redefining Possession

August Tales had a chance to catch up with Cavan Scott to discuss the new comic. When asked about his inspiration, Scott revealed an innovative perspective. The usual possession stories felt repetitive, so he spun the narrative. Pondering a tale from the viewpoint of a demon led him to create Dario his lead character.

Dario is a former mob enforcer who finds himself in Hell but sees it as a job opportunity. He becomes a debt collector for the Devil, collecting due licenses from people who sold their souls. Scott’s genius shines in this dark portrayal of reformation.

Mixing Genres and Breaking Boundaries

Scott confessed a penchant for incorporating the supernatural into every genre. He derives joy from combining tropes with the supernatural in his previous work, including ‘Shadow Service’ and ‘The Ward.’ Scott promises a unique experience with ‘Godfather of Hell’, as it flawlessly blends elements from ‘Drive’ and ‘Constantine.’

Crafting a Masterpiece with Stellar Artistry

Creating a comic isn’t a solo endeavor; it’s teamwork. Scott’s interaction with Pius Bak, the artist, lays testament to this fact. He marvels at Bak’s interpretation of his vision and praises Bak’s grasp on character development. Colorist Raúl Angulo deserves a special mention for vivifying Hell with an array of neon colors.

Why You Should Be Reading ‘Godfather of Hell’

Are you apprehensive about dipping toes into this murky genre? Scott assures it’s not all doom and gloom. ‘Godfather of Hell’ welcomes you with gangster crime, humor, and zesty dialogue. It also narrates an intricate love story between Dario and Elena, a mob boss’s daughter. Separated by Elena’s criminal father, Dario and Elena are now distanced by Dario’s death. Yet, their determination to unite is unyielding.

Teaser Alert

Meet Jaakobah, Dario’s right-hand devil in Hell, and his wise-cracking imp. Jaako, comparable to a ‘Bat-Mite’ with a twist, revels in tormenting the damned. He may seem approachable, but beware of his devious grin.

Brace yourselves for the rollercoaster that is ‘Godfather of Hell.’ The preview hints at an incredible journey that awaits readers. With Cavan at the helm, this tantalizing comic twist on traditional underworld lore promises to be an intriguing ride.
