Daredevil Cameo: Easter Egg That Didn’t Make the Cut
Charlie Cox, known as Daredevil, made his long-awaited MCU debut in Spider-Man: No Way Home. His surprise appearance had fans cheering. However, there was more to the story that never made it to the big screen.
A Hidden Daredevil Reference Cut from the Film
Cox recently revealed that a subtle nod to the 2003 Daredevil film, starring Ben Affleck, was cut from No Way Home. During a fan interaction at Tampa Bay Comic Con, Cox shared that a scene featuring his character, Matt Murdock, alongside Jon Favreau’s Happy Hogan and Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, included a playful reference to Favreau’s role as Foggy Nelson in the 2003 movie.
The Deleted Line That Never Made It
“In Spider-Man, I did a scene with Jon Favreau, who I love,” Cox said. He continued, “Jon also played Foggy in that [2003] film. We tried to slip in a pun where my character asks him something, and Jon’s Happy replies, ‘Yeah, I’m a little foggy on that right now.’ Not sure if it made the final cut, but we had fun with it, thinking some fans might catch the reference.”
Sadly, this clever homage was ultimately left on the editing room floor. Despite this, Cox’s debut as Daredevil in the MCU has opened doors for the character’s future in the franchise.
