Chucky Documentary Debuts on Shudder on November 1st
Looking Into the Mouth of Madness
Thommy Hutson, who earned his reputation with horror documentaries on “Elm Street” and “Friday the 13th,” directed “Doc of Chucky.” The documentary includes interviews with Don Mancini, Brad Dourif, Jennifer Tilly, and others. It promises a dive into the “Child’s Play” franchise, consisting of seven films and a three-season TV show.
Despite the recent cancellation of his own show, Chucky is far from done. “Doc of Chucky” offers fans a comprehensive overview of the franchise. Unfolding over almost 40 years, the series’ enduring appeal is proving irrefutable, as indicated by the stellar cast participating in the documentary.
A Tale of Terror Reborn
“Doc of Chucky” is the definitive account of the Child’s Play series and its iconic villain. It provides abundant evidence of Chucky’s immortality, relayed by cast, crew, critics, and historians. It boasts an array of material, including clips, photographs, archival documents, behind-the-scenes footage, and expert analysis.
The Child’s Play franchise comprises seven films and a three-season television series, all starring Chucky, the serial killer-possessed Good Guy doll. Five of these films saw theatrical releases, with the remaining two and the TV show landing on disc and streaming platforms. Brad Dourif has been the voice behind Chucky through it all. A franchise reboot attempt in 2019, which saw Mark Hamill voicing Chucky, and excluded series creator Don Mancini, proved unsuccessful.
The Waiting (Almost) Over
“Doc of Chucky” is poised to debut on Shudder on November 1st. Unfortunately, it just barely misses the Halloween season.
