Celebrating 5 Years of Slaughterverse with Exciting New Releases
By August Tales
Mark your calendars, comic fans! The Slaughterverse, the brainchild of James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera, is celebrating its 5th anniversary. To cap off this significant milestone, they’re releasing two must-have one-shot specials.
Delving Deeper into the House of Cutter
Cracking open the first special, we find Maxine Slaughter’s journey concluding in the BOOK OF CUTTER. The story traces her transformation—from being a White Mask to becoming a lethal Black Mask. The tale doesn’t stop there. She’s on a trans-Atlantic journey, training with the formidable House of Cutter in Europe.
Creative collaboration at its best is evident in the books, particularly in BOOK OF CUTTER #1. The cover is an artistic creation by Dan Mora, notable for his work on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Variants showcase the artistic finesse of the series’ co-creator, Werther Dell’Edera, and Khary Randolph, famed for his art in ‘Sirens of the City’.
When Art Meets Fiction
In the subsequent SPECIAL, THE ART OF SOMETHING IS KILLING THE CHILDREN COMPANION #1 comes to life. This addition is more than just a comic book. It’s a compilation—reminiscing the best covers of Something is Killing the Children for the past five years.
Pre-Order is the Word
Ready to get your copies? BOOK OF CUTTER #1 hits the comic shops on December 25, 2024. The art-themed issue, THE ART OF SOMETHING, will be available on December 4, 2024. Both can be pre-ordered from local comic shops. Digital enthusiasts can grab their copies through iBooks, Google Play, and Kindle.
Behind The Scene
In an exclusive chat, series creator and writer, James Tynion IV, shares his excitement. He says, “Charting Maxine’s journey was thrilling. Our annual specials have allowed us to expand and enrich the Slaughterverse. With Book of Cutter, we reveal more about the Order of St. George.”
Co-creator and series artist, Werther Dell’Edera, has become a fan of the character, Maxine Slaughter. His anticipation about Maxine’s clash with Erica is palpable. He can’t wait to see what happens when their paths intersect.
Adding to the excitement, BOOK OF BUTCHER and THE ART OF SOMETHING IS KILLING THE CHILDREN COMPANION, are the newest additions from BOOM! Studios. They’ve given us renowned original series and popular licensed properties. Watch out for their upcoming releases, including ‘Vicarious’ by Ryan Parrott and Eleonora Carlini, and ‘The Creeping Below’ by Brian Azzarello and Vanesa Del Rey.
