David Henrie Unveils Wizards Beyond Waverly

The magic is back. After what feels like an eternity, the well-loved Wizards of Waverly Place is getting a sparkling new sequel. This Halloween season, Disney+ and Disney Channel will unveil Wizards Beyond Waverly Place on October 29, reuniting fans with their favorite wizards. The series sees Selena Gomez and David Henrie step back into their enchanting roles as sibling duo Alex and Justin Russo.

In this continuation, Justin trades his wand for dad duties. He enjoys a “normal” life with his wife Giada, played by Mimi Gianopulos, and their two boys, Roman and Milo. But when WizTech faces a mysterious predicament, young wizard Billie, portrayed by Janice LeAnn Brown, arrives at Justin’s door. She seeks guidance and training. To protect Wizard World, Justin must reckon with his wizarding past and dive back into the mystical world.

A Return To Form

Henrie and Gomez have been quietly stirring excitement since the pandemic’s onset. Fans speculated about a potential Wizards revival as the duo hinted at a secret collaboration. At the recent press junket, Henrie revealed that reconnecting over time eventually led to the show’s conception. Brainstorming on beloved memories ignited the creative spark.

Henrie and Gomez often found themselves reminiscing. Their fond chats about fictional adventures gradually developed into something substantial. Henrie shared, “We’ve been discussing our characters since the end of the original show. Whenever Selena came over, conversations always drifted back to those days. It was pure magic, sparking joy for us.”

Making Magic Happen

Henrie hinted that pitching the revival to Disney wasn’t an overnight decision. “We went to Disney, shared our vision, and then waited for years,” Henrie admitted. The revival announcement finally arrived in January, much to fans’ delight.

The show’s creation embodies the organic evolution of an idea filled with love. “We’ve not just pitched a series,” Henrie noted. “It’s something close to our hearts, a tribute we hope viewers see as a ‘big, warm hug.'”

Both Henrie and Gomez aim to capture that warm nostalgia of the original series. They envision a show that rekindles old memories while forging new magical stories. Wizards Beyond Waverly Place promises plenty of heartfelt nostalgia and charm, wrapped in exciting new spellbinding adventures.
