Deadpool, Wolverine & Wesley Snipes’ Blade

Wesley Snipes Returns as Blade in Deadpool & Wolverine

We saw it, but we can scarcely believe it — Wesley Snipes throwing on the signature suave of Marvel’s vampire-slaying vigilante, Blade. Yes, in Marvel’s Deadpool and Wolverine, that’s exactly the nostalgic thrill we’ve been treated with. Moreover, accomplished Hollywood make-up artist Bill Corso has given us a peek into the BTS of this cinematic reprieve via some freshly developed photos.

Rediscovering Blade With Exclusive BTS Photos

Bill Corso, the make-up artist behind many Hollywood transformations, delivered a package of three exclusive photos. His handywork captured Snipes in the Blade ensemble. An accompanying Instagram post gave his audience a generous dose of insider info.

Corso, recalling the cast’s experience on July 14, 2023, stated, “This day notched the halfway completion point in Deadpool and Wolverine.” Furthermore, he underscored that this was the day when a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) strike was on the brink of occurrence.

The make-up maestro continued his recollections: “On that chaotic day, we shot a massive sequence featuring Wolverine and Sabertooth. In addition, we also tested the appearances for Elektra, Gambit, and Blade.”

Celebrating Snipes’ Return

It’s been two decades since Wesley Snipes last starred as Blade in 2004. Therefore, seeing him reprise the role sent waves of excitement through fans globally. As well, legendary make-up artist, Corso couldn’t keep from showering Snipes with compliments. “Snipes, the OG Marvel Cinematic Hero, looked as timeless as his character, the Daywalker,” Corso wrote.

However, the accolades for Snipes aren’t confined to just Corso, but extend to his co-stars as well. Ryan Reynolds, the man who made the Blade cameo possible, acknowledges Snipes’ crucial contribution to the Marvel Universe: “Without Blade creating an initial audience, there would be no Fox Marvel Universe or MCU,” boasted Reynolds. In addition, Reynolds emphasized that a Logan-style send-off was apt for Wesley Snipes’ Blade character.

In sum, Wesley Snipes’ resurfacing as Blade is a nostalgic dream within a dream that’s enticed all — from cinema buffs to co-stars. With fresh BTS snapshots and heart-touching testimonials from colleagues, this resurrection of Blade’s character is one for the ages.
