Deluxe Dark Knight Returns by McFarlane

Dark Knight Returns: A McFarlane Delight

Brace yourselves, superfans! Revealed just fresh at Comic-Con, the McFarlane Toys’ deluxe Dark Knight Returns Batman is set to hit the preorder scene this Friday. But Batman isn’t the lone wolf here; he’s got a few Collector Edition allies tagging along for the thrill ride.

Meet the Hero of the House

A robust applause for Batman, if you please. He’s the undisputed main attraction here, almost certain to fly off the shelves in no time, despite the plentiful Dark Knight Returns figures that have come before him. Resplendent with battle damage, interchangeable masked and unmasked heads, a handful (quite literally) of hands, and a batarang, Batman also gets his very own street light for that perfectly dramatic display. A few of McFarlane’s previous deluxe figures have drawn the short straw with their upcharge, but this Batman? Worth every penny.

A Twist in the Lantern’s Tale

Also sharing the preorder spotlight is the Green Lantern. But here’s the catch—it’s one body with two possible heads: Tomar-Re and Abin Sur. It’s up to you, die-hard fan, to decide which Lantern to display. McFarlane, one can speculate, wouldn’t mind if you splurge on both! With extra hands and accessories thrown into the mix, Abin Sur bears a striking resemblance to Temuera Morrison’s movie portrayal—if you squint a little and turn your head.

The Hunt is On for New 52 Huntress

The New 52 Huntress is also here, fully loaded and beyond expectations, sporting a fabric cape and three different face sculpts. We hope the one in the image is the worst out of the lot—they can only get better, right? Plus, she’s got her signature crossbow, which is an entity Warner Bros. thankfully doesn’t oppose like they do guns. Oh, and get this, four extra hands!

The exhilarating preorders are about to roll in. Expect all your favorite online outlets to be buzzing, with prices in the ballpark of $30-$40. McFarlane’s Collector Edition line seems to be a brilliant strategy, spreading the costs across the line. This approach keeps basic figures at a friendly $20 price point, adding bonuses to higher-priced figures to account for the price jump.

So collectors, limber up those “preorder now” fingers. Let the games begin!
