A Bombshell from X-Men ’97 Creator

Beau DeMayo, the creator and executive producer of X-Men ’97, has launched a fierce attack against Disney and Marvel Studios. In a 30-minute video released on his OnlyFans account, he accuses his former employers of “egregious prejudicial misconduct”.

The video focuses on Marvel’s alleged toxic work environment, discriminative practices, and attempts to mute his creative voice in X-Men ’97 and Blade.

Unleashing the Dirty Details

DeMayo alleges that he was sacked unfairly just prior to the debut of X-Men ’97 on Disney+. He says Marvel stripped him of his Season 2 credits. A so-called internal investigation by Marvel led to his departure, but a Variety source points to sexual misconduct as the cause. DeMayo emphatically denies these claims.

He calls such allegations an outright lie and part of a devious “smear campaign” intended to divert attention from internal discrepancies at Marvel. He insists Marvel manipulated his identity as a gay, Black man, resorting to derogatory labels such as “big”, “intimidating”, “too opinionated”, and “pervert”.

A Clash over Creative Direction

DeMayo speaks of his struggle to uphold the original X-Men narratives in X-Men ’97. His allegiance to fans’ popular storylines was not warmly embraced. According to him, Marvel executives wanted fresh narratives for the show. When DeMayo refused to conform, they dubbed him “uncollaborative” and “too much of a fanboy”. The glum DeMayo recalls executives openly showing their loathing for his “fighting for the fans”.

Recounting a Disturbing Work Environment

Beyond these creative differences, DeMayo describes Marvel’s work milieu as troubling. Artists working on X-Men ’97 allegedly experienced health issues due to the intense production schedule. DeMayo claims when he voiced these concerns, he was met with “retaliation”.

He further alleges a producer turned a blind eye to his report about a potentially exploitative sexual connection between a lead and a production assistant. The same producer allegedly made inappropriate comments and discriminated based on his sexuality.

The Price of Speaking Out?

DeMayo indicates he has been barred from third-party Comic-Con panels and the upcoming Emmys, a retaliatory act for his public social media posts highlighting inclusivity. He has a resolute belief in his cause, stating, “This is me trying to do the right thing”.

Despite these hurdles, DeMayo is insistent on exposing Marvel’s alleged atrocities. He assures he has hard evidence and eyewitnesses to validate his claims but prefers to settle the issue privately with Marvel’s top guns.

Legal Battle Looms

Bryan Freedman, his lawyer, has lodged a lawsuit against Marvel. The attorney argues that the separation agreement between DeMayo and Marvel infringes on California laws. He sends out a stern warning to Marvel, insisting that violating Beau’s statutory rights in California will prove costly in this lawsuit. He believes the truth cannot be suppressed indefinitely.
