Explore the Demon Realm in Dragon Ball Daima
by August Tales
The anime world shakes in anticipation. Dragon Ball Daima, the fresh whirlwind of an adventure led by Son Goku, is launching in October. It pushes forward despite the loss of series creator Akira Toriyama. As one of his last creations, Dragon Ball Daima’s debut is long-awaited, ready to deliver power boosts and new realms like Universe 7.
The most recent Dragon Ball Daima trailer has drawn eyes firmly to Universe 7. Broadly bookmarked as Goku and his squad’s home, we’ve traversed from its views of the afterlife to its fiery hell. Now, there’s a fresh slice to explore: the Demon Realm. Yep, it’s part of Universe 7 and it’s coming.
Peeling Back the Layers of Universe 7
Universe 7 spins on a unique axis, once described by Toriyama as a gatcha ball. Inside, it houses everything from Earth to the heavens and hell. Other planets, like Beerus’ hangout, also dot this universe. But there’s something at the south pole too.
Buried under hell, the South Pole hides a pointed tip — where the Demon Realm lives. This revelation is supported by the fresh Dragon Ball Daima trailer. Let’s crack open this question: how does the Demon Realm weave into the anime’s canon?
Decoding the Demon Realm
The elusive Demon Realm isn’t new to the Dragon Ball storyline. It has surfaced in the past, during the original Dragon Ball series. We’ve met Demon World leaders like Shula. And yet, its narrative is more complex beyond the anime.
In the extended Dragon Ball canon, Goku and his crew have confronted the Demon Realm. It was sealed away in the Year 850, foretelling chaos if it unlocked. Figures like Towa and Mira yearned to free it, leaving Goku with a heroic task. However, something has popped in Dragon Ball Daima, crackling open part of the Demon Realm.
Impacting Dragon Ball Daima: Enter the Demon Realm
From the trailers, the Demon Realm is ajar to a degree. Its inhabitants, aware of the dragon balls’ power, have shrunk Goku and his allies. Goku must journey across Universe 7 to collect the dragon balls to reverse the wish. If the Demon Realm is behind the drama and the dragon balls reek of corruption, Goku has a daunting task ahead.
There’s a parasitic nature to the Demon Realm’s power. It might affect the dragon balls. Earlier trailers for Dragon Ball Daima showed different-looking relics — the Blue Dragon Balls, originally meant to feature in Dragon Ball GT. Given their corruption by demonic energy, Goku faces a challenging duel against the opened Demon Realm and the tainted Dragon Balls. Finally, we’ll discover more of Universe 7, hinted at only by Toriyama.
