Fans Split on Desired Outcome

James Gunn’s DCU: New Batman and Robin Speculations

By August Tales

When Warner Bros. brought James Gunn on board to straighten out the DCU, reactions flipped wildly. A wave of changes was undeniably imminent. We’re only at the starting line, but the DCU gossip mill is buzzing already.

Exclusive focus is on Batman’s universe, with Matt Reeves spearheading a trilogy of flicks and related content. However, this storyline stands apart from the main DCU storyline. That means we might be juggling two Batmans simultaneously, a novel, intriguing twist.

Robin’s Role in This New DCU: A Tale of Two Projects

Reeves might not have a Robin flitting about in his Gotham, but Gunn’s DCU is likely to. The excitement levels spiked when word about an animated prequel, Dynamic Duo, came through. The film will skulk around the early lives of two Robins-in-the-making from the classic comics. Fans are already speculating about the live-action actor who might don the classic domino mask, but consensus is a far cry.

A spirited Reddit thread shed some light on fans’ picks for the coveted role. With talks revolving around Reeves’ sequel to The Batman, these names could become potential prospects for the DCU version too. But Pattinson’s Batman is still a greenhorn, and it’s doubtful that the bird-themed sidekick will swing his way anytime soon.

Fan Discussion and Suggestions for the Perfect Robin

Reddit user Easy-Economist-1467 ignited the discussion with a pertinent question: “Which kid actor would make the ideal Robin irrespective of what everyone thinks about having the character in the movie? We all know Matt Reeves’ interest in Walker Scobell, but who else would you consider?”

Suggestions paraded in, some surprisingly noteworthy, like Ryan Potter of Titans fame. Despite his age, Potter’s name echoes as a solid contender for Nightwing, thanks to his dedication to the Robin when Affleck ruled Gotham. OldSnazzyHats, a Redditor, insists that the DCU should consider a young, fresh grappling prodigy for an authentic Grayson experience.

Another Redditor, UnofficalNicoli15, holds Tanner Buchanan as an apt pick for Nightwing or Red Hood, not Robin. Finn Wolfhard, of Stranger Things fame, and young actor Jacob Tremblay also entered the list of potentials.

Many fans vouched for casting a new face as Robin. Jesters among the group escalated the hilarity, pushing for stalwarts like Willem Dafoe and Matt Damon for Robin’s role. This chaotic consensus has left the question of the perfect Robin as a puzzle with no immediate solution.
