UNCANNY VALLEY #4: A Frolic into Crayon-Colored Carnage

Cartoonishly chaotic as they come. Words hardly capture the whirlwind of wackiness unleashed in the latest offering from BOOM! Studios, “UNCANNY VALLEY #4”, set to hit comic stores in July 2024. Crafted by the enchantingly odd minds of wordsmith Tony Fleecs, known for his work on the aptly named ‘Stray Dogs’, and Dave Wachter, with a portfolio including “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”, this comic whisks readers into a zany wonderland of far-out family drama and deadly secrets. Dotting the comical “Is” and crossing the fantastical “Ts” is none other than letterer maestro Pat Brosseau.

UNCANNY VALLEY #4 takes the readership on an undiluted, tempestuous journey through the kooky corridors of chaos where peril lurks around every hand-drawn corner, especially for its central character, Oliver. However, where chaos reigns, maternal figures tend to follow – but it’s not all fluffy bunnies and rainbow llamas. A sinister entity, billowing in the smoky aftermath of the admittedly cheery ruination, is ready to offer a sacrifice.

Seizing your eyeballs with a bold main cover by series artist Dave Wachter himself, UNCANNY VALLEY #4 tantalizes comic enthusiasts with a tantalizing alternate covers. These are courtesy of peculiar pen-wielders such as Erica Henderson, who has ‘Dracula, Motherf**ker!’ under her Sketchpad Belt, and Steve Skroce, known for his work on ‘We Stand on Guard’.

UNCANNY VALLEY is the latest offering from BOOM! Studios’ self-named imprint, the whimsical Mothership to a galaxy of critically acclaimed original series such as Keanu Reeves’ star-studded “BRZRKR”, James Tynion IV’s eerily enchanting “Something is Killing the Children”, as well as Stephanie Phillips’ grim versus Grimm version, “Grim”. This list also features other captivating pieces including R.L. Stine and A.L. Kaplan’s terror-ridden “Stuff of Nightmares” and David and Maria Lapham’s thrilling “Underheist”. This isn’t forgetting the licensed publications from the imprint, including the captivating “Dragon Tooth” from the Expanse series.

UNCANNY VALLEY #4 will march its cartoon pandemonium into comic shops from July 24, 2024. Eager fans of the animated absurd can pre-order at their local comic shop, or in case they prefer flipping through digital pages, Kindle, iBooks, and Google Play have got them covered.
