Gosh! Comics Hosts ‘A Celebration of 10…

“Decade Celebrations for BF’s Six to Watch”

This festival of publisher-pilgrimage happens but once in a blue moon, folks. Mark your calendars for August 31st (between the bewitching hours of 7-9 pm, London time), because Gosh! Comics is cranking the scribes-carousel to max for a musical chairs session that would make Jane Austen blush! This is a shindig to celebrate 10 whirling years of the Broken Frontier ‘Six to Watch’ initiative. The diversity of the crowd might just pull you into a creative vortex, with the feted guests spanning from the first intake of #BF6ToWatch in 2015 to today’s fresh faces.

The Golden Half-Dozen

If you happen to be a tad behind on the times, allow me to shine a spotlight on the ‘Six to Watch’ program. This canvas of creation seeks to champion the underdogs of comic creation, the verdant voices that echo off-panel. Each year’s chosen six score guaranteed coverage at Broken Frontier, a mentorship chock-full of year-long comic camaraderie, and dibs at a smorgasbord of BF-related comic events and panels.

From garage operations and small pressing engagements, Six to Watch denizens have dazzled the bookshelves at monumental publishers such as Jonathan Cape, Dark Horse Comics, BOOM! Studios, and Image Comics, among a host of others.

Trimming the Comics Vine

Fear not, dear reader, for this bevy of plot-weavers have carved their marks into innumerable universes. Let’s tip our hat to the noteworthy items like Sabba Khan’s The Roles We Play and Danny Noble’s Shame Pudding (a dish best served cold, eh?). While at it, let’s throw in a cheer for Jem Milton’s The Flying Ship, Shanti Rai’s Sennen, and the list goes on…

Towards the end of balmy August, nearly thirty ‘Six to Watch’ creators (providing their calendars are kind) are prepping their pens for the ’10 Years of the Broken Frontier Six to Watch’ gala at Gosh! Abs Bailey, Alba Ceide, Alice Urbino… the lineup reads like an Avengers roll-call.
