New Dynamic Duo Animation Film Underway: Origin Story of Dick Grayson and Jason Todd
This is August Tales with a thrilling update. DC Studios and Warner Bros. are teaming up for a fascinating undertaking. They’re working on a feature film about the origins of the pioneering Robins, Dick Grayson and Jason Todd.
Dynamic Duo: An Adventure in the Making
Expectedly, this feature film, titled ‘Dynamic Duo’, is breaking new ground with a collaboration between the freshly minted DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, directed by Bill Damaschke.
Power Packed Team
Matthew Aldrich leads the scripting for this project. The film creation is in the hands of Swaybox, a new animation studio from New Orleans. This coup is the brainchild of the studio’s creators, partners in life and business, Arthur Mintz and Theresa Andersson. Mintz helms the directing seat.
The Story of The Duo
The dynamic narrative throws light on the early days of Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, also indulgently known as the Robins. Portrayed as best friends with shared aspirations of a brighter future, their chemistry will dance on-screen. However, their camaraderie faces a challenge: conflicting aspirations. The resulting resolution evolves into a fresh Dynamic Duo.
Revolutionary Animation
Swaybox employs an innovative technique dubbed “Momo Animation”. This revolutionary method amalgamates CGI animation, real-time live-action performance, and practical stop-motion elements. Billed as dynamically expressive, visually show-stopping, and more human, it is poised to engrave a new mark in the animation world.
Crew Vibes
Dynamic Duo is a star-studded project with DC Studios’ James Gunn and Peter Safran, Swaybox Studios’ Theresa Andersson, and 6th and Idaho’s Reeves as producers. Among the top brass include Michael Uslan, an Executive Producer.
Reeves’ Take
Reeves reflects on the venture. He has always wanted to collaborate with Arthur and Swaybox, saying this “Dynamic Duo project is a dream”. This unique Batman and Robin’s narrative aims to awe families worldwide.
The Makers
Arthur Mintz, co-CEO of Swaybox, boasts an awe-inspiring résumé. A Columbia University alumnus, he worked in the storyboard department for “James and the Giant Peach”. He is also a contributing writer of the Emmy award-winning “Lost Ollie” from Moonbot Studios. Mintz’s directing portfolio includes several award-winning puppet theater productions.
Theresa Andersson, the other half of Swaybox, chased her music dream from Sweden to New Orleans. Known globally as a performer and composer, she toured her innovative one-woman looping show. This unique concept was a collaborative effort with Mintz, inspired by a one-man puppet show. Notably, she has performed on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson”. In partnership with Mintz since 2009, she brings years of production experience to the table.
