New Horizons in Anime: Orb’s Galactic Journey Continues
The universe is expanding, and so too is the world of anime. This week, the official site for the highly anticipated adaptation of Uoto’s “Chi: Chikyū no Undō ni Tsuite”—translated as "Orb: On the Movements of the Earth"—gifted us a second full promotional video. Not only did it reveal major cast additions, but it also unveiled a fresh ending theme titled "Hebi" ("Snake") by the enigmatic band yorushika.
Meet the New Faces
Excitement ripples as the new cast members take center stage. Miyuri Shimabukuro joins as Draka, a spirited daughter from a roving tribe. Meanwhile, Satoshi Hino steps in as Schmidt, leading a rebellious group set on liberating heretics. Together, they promise to add depth to this arresting narrative set in the cosmos.
The anime made its grand debut on NHK General on October 5. In case you missed it, each episode streams promptly on Netflix and ABEMA. This epic saga stretches across 25 episodes, airing uninterrupted for two quarters. Thus, anime enthusiasts are securing their seats for this half-year marvel.
The Creative Powerhouse

For those who prefer paper to pixels, Seven Seas is serving the "Orb" manga in a grand omnibus format. This edition captures the medieval thrill of questioning cosmic truths. Child genius Rafal, equipped with his mentor’s secrets and a unique pendant, must now flee the Inquisition’s wrath.
Launched in Big Comic Spirits in September 2020, Uoto’s manga concluded its inspiring journey in April 2022. By June of that year, Shogakukan had published the final volume. Notably, the series clinched the 26th Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize. Uoto made history as the youngest ever Grand Prize winner.
