PARADISIO Advances the Alien Franchise

“ALIEN: PARADISO” – A Fresh Perspective on a Classic Terror

By August Tales

The popularity of aliens is soaring in 2021. Marvel comics amplifies this trend with their latest title, ALIEN: PARADISO. The novel series unleashes the fearsome xenomorphs in a new setting – a luxury resort. Steve Foxe weaves this exciting narrative, assisted by Edgar Salazar’s striking illustrations.

Epitomizing Innovation

Salazar’s work promises unique vantage points. For the first time, readers glimpse the world through the alien’s lens, literally. Such an approach supplements the typical experience with unprecedented closeness to the nightmare-inducing space monsters.

Foxe aims to offer a distinct storyline. “While bringing the franchise back to its roots in many aspects, I wanted our readers to experience a uniquely innovative narrative,” he says. A high-end beach resort teeming with underhanded criminals, undercover officers, and exploited staff transforms the story in a new direction.

Paying Homage to the Classics

Foxe reveres Alien. He admits it’s possibly the most flawless movie ever. To retain its essence, he sticks to the theme of a not-so-ordinary group trapped with an unfathomable menace in a confined location. “Our team and I strive to depict the familiar Alien universe with a fresh lens. Sit back, enjoy the sunshine, but stay alert for the acid splash lurking in the shadows,” Foxe advises.

Marvel’s official release and Iban Coello’s illustrated cover and variant edition further tease the series.

Diving Deeper into ALIEN: PARADISO

Marvel’s Alien comic series makes a sharp twist with ALIEN: PARADISO. Neon lights cast eerie shadows on the horror of the iconic franchise, highlighting the deadly gambles one must take to survive. The five-issue limited series plunges into an unexplored side of the Alien universe. The universe’s deadliest creature finds a banquet of unsuspecting victims at a luxury resort.

Visualizing Terror

This paradise isn’t as innocent as it seems. As the Xenomorph drowns the picturesque landscape in blood, greed, corruption, and horror creep into the narrative. In a twist, Peter Nguyen’s artwork visualizes the perspective of the Xenomorph on special pages within each issue.

Trek to Paradiso

Welcome to Paradiso, the cosmic Tulum. A long-forgotten gem, Paradiso boasts a tropical climate, pristine beaches, and a rich collection of elusive high-end criminals. Colonial Marshals Dash Nanda and Lydia Reeves head to bust a smuggling ring within Paradiso’s confines. The vacation hotspot quickly descends into a hunting ground for those starved for power.

ALIEN: PARADISO #1, authored by Steve Foxe, sets the stage. Edgar Salazar and Peter Nguyen contribute the artwork, while Iban Coello designs the cover. A variant cover by J. Gonzo adds to the anticipation. The first issue goes on sale on December 11, allowing fans to embark on this captivating journey in the alien universe.
