Series 2 of The Walking Dead by Diamond Select

Walking Dead Spinoff Merchandise Back in Action

Like an overly photocopied zombie face, “The Walking Dead” seems to have spawned more offspring than a rabbit on fertility drugs. Regardless of fan bemoaning, the franchise remains a cash cow, thriving in a market that would probably still flog “Walking Dead” merchandise even in the midst of a real walker-infested wasteland.

In the latest act of merch-resurrection, McFarlane Toys is dusting off their old 5-inch figurines. However, it’s Diamond that’s seizing the day, stepping up to plate to offer us collector-philes 7-inch morsels of our favorite characters. With that extra couple of inches (which we all know can make all the difference), Diamond will be bringing to life something McFarlane never did — comic-based black-and-white figurines.

Black, White, and Undead All Over

Rick and Michonne will be resurrected in plastic first, this coming November. But before you can scream “braaains,” wave 2 will be upon us in the second quarter of 2025, dropping Negan and a walker into the mix. To add a touch of fun, the walker figure will come with interchangeable parts, allowing you to custom create your own decomposing sidekick. Negan, ever the charmer, comes equipped with his iconic baseball bat, Lucille, and a dobber of two different facial expressions.

The Diamond team may not be recreating specific comic storylines with these figures, but they’re definitely piggybacking off the hype. Now you can stage your own undead dramas according to the scenarios you enjoy from the show – but remember, only one walker per pack folks. No idea if this is Diamond’s subtle nod toward anti-zombie hoarding or merely a packaging decision.

Pre-zombie Apocalyptic Sales

Now to the nitty-gritty. Preorders are live and kicking, with each figure setting you back a cool $29.99. But fear not, you won’t need to embark on a scavenging mission worthy of the show to get your mitts on these figures. In fact, Negan is more likely to give you a headache than the process of finding these collectibles. Word on the street is that walkers will probably shuffle off the shelves faster, thanks to their customizable nature and monochrome palette, making them an appealing prospect to horror fans everywhere.
