Table Top Game INFINITY by Corvus Belli

“First Peek at Infinity: Paradise Lost Animated Series at SDCC”

Infinity: Paradise Lost – from Table Top to Animation

Nostalgic days of rolling dice, moving pieces on a board, and venturing into space through a table top game may soon be evolving to a far more full-fledged sci-fi immersion. No, we’re not talking about wizards developing questionable hobbies during lock-down. We’re talking about Corvus Belli’s global table top sensation, Infinity, stepping up its game – quite literally – into the animation world. The trailer for the animated series, titled "Infinity: Paradise Lost", saw its first rays of light recently.

Futuristic Universe Descends On Animation

Without a magic spell but rather an intense surge of creativity, Infinity is bringing its high-tech future universe into the celestial world of animation. The credit for this orbits renowned producer/director Jay Oliva, who has his animation thumbprints on nine Warner Bros. blockbuster films, including the universally admired two-part Batman: The Dark Knight Returns.

The series, a collaborative marvel between Lex+Otis Studios and TeamTO, had its grand stand in France at the Annecy Film Festival last month. It is now on its way to charming the distributors.

The Game Invasion

In the animated series, mankind has taken a giant leap, about 200 years into an alternate future where Mother Earth has been left behind in favor of colonizing multiple star systems. Naturally, unity among these planetary factions is as stiff as a Star Trek Vulcan salute. Great nations wrestle to control resources, not to stage an extravagant Martian ball, but to fortify their clinch on power.

Just when things couldn’t get more spine-tingling, alien life forms, previously considered extinct in these star systems, decide to wake up from their eternal snooze. And so, the animated series Infinity kicks off!

Grand Reveal at Comic-Con International

Paving the way for this storytelling is Jay Oliva who, as a self-proclaimed fan of the game, convinced the Corvus Belli team into letting him animate their brainchild. His enthusiasm for the game is rooted in its unique visuals and terrain-rich environment, like a miniature diorama coming to life. Sieving in influences from "Dune" and classic sci-fi masters of the past, he believed the translation to animation was as smooth as an alien’s cranium.

Speaking of coming to life, our eagle-eyed human and alien fans will enjoy unraveling the mysteries of the Infinity: Paradise Lost cast, and their action-packed animated forays during a panel at Comic-Con International. Aside from the scintillating trailer and an immersive music video from the recent Infinity scoring session at Abbey Road Studios, there’s also a friendly panel, which includes an assortment of talent like Jay Oliva, Gary Miereanu, and actors like Zehra Fazal and Jason Spisak.

As an earthy—or, dare we say, otherworldly—souvenir, attendees will receive a precious Infinity mini-figurine of Kassad, one of the key characters from the series.
