Penguin Random House Publisher Services Signs Sales and Distribution Agreement with TokyoPop

In the mystical realm of the publishing world, where words hold the power to transport readers to far-off lands and fantastical adventures, a new alliance has been forged. Enter Penguin Random House Publisher Services, a mighty force in the realm of books, who has joined hands with TokyoPop, a legendary guardian of comics, graphic novels, and manga.

Like a skilled sorcerer weaving spells with his pen, TokyoPop emerged in 1997, led by the enigmatic entrepreneur Stu Levy. With a flick of his wrist and a stroke of genius, Levy introduced the wonders of manga to American readers, capturing their hearts and minds with tales of heroes, villains, and everything in between.

But as with all great sagas, TokyoPop faced its own trials and tribulations. In the year of 2011, dark clouds loomed over their kingdom, threatening to dim their once-shining star. Yet, like a phoenix rising from the ashes, TokyoPop restructured its operations in 2016, determined to reclaim its former glory.

And lo and behold, in the year of 2021, a beacon of hope emerged on the horizon. Manga sales soared to unprecedented heights, breathing new life into TokyoPop’s realm. Riding this wave of success, TokyoPop ascended to new heights, earning a coveted spot on the PW fast-growing independent publisher list in both 2022 and 2023.

With a wry smile and a twinkle in his eye, TokyoPop’s COO and publisher, Marc Visnick, spoke of the alliance with Penguin Random House as a boon bestowed upon them by the gods of publishing. With PRHPS at their side, TokyoPop stood poised to conquer new territories, expanding their reach into uncharted markets while continuing to dazzle readers with their captivating tales.

Meanwhile, in the halls of Penguin Random House, the executive v-p, Rachel Goldstein, could barely contain her excitement at the prospect of adding TokyoPop to their illustrious roster of partners. With a flourish of her quill, she pledged to bring TokyoPop’s creations to a wider audience, spreading joy and wonder to readers across the globe.

And so, dear readers, the stage is set for a new chapter in the saga of TokyoPop and Penguin Random House. With their powers combined, who knows what enchanting adventures and delightful surprises await us in the pages of their collaborative works? Stay tuned, for the tale is far from over, and the best is yet to come.
