Tom Hiddleston’s Loki: Role Importance

Loki’s Kill Count in the Marvel Universe

By August Tales

Superheroes and comic book stars often leave destruction in their wake. It’s usually unintentional — buildings tumble, bystanders get hurt. Yet, in some cases, the heroic “good guys” deliberately deal death. The end goal? Vanquishing villains and saving the day.

Batman and Superman may adopt “no-kill” policies. Still, they’re more the exception than the rule. Superheroes rarely hesitate to terminate monsters, aliens, or other foes.

With this in mind, let’s spotlight Marvel’s Loki— the borderline between hero and villain.

The Many Faces of Loki

Loki’s character is as complex as a Rubik’s cube. His alliances have toggled more times than a light switch. The standalone Loki series, however, emphasized an essential element. Loki isn’t inherently wicked.

Armed with this deeper understanding, we delve into Loki’s on-screen kill count in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Our details spring from a list featured on IMDb, meticulously compiled by user Creedswede. Creedswede chronicled the kill count of all significant MCU characters, fleshing it out with key notes. According to his findings, Loki’s kill count reads –

Thor – 18

The Avengers – 25

Thor: The Dark World – 5

Thor: Ragnarok – 14

Total kills: 62+

Loki’s Body Count

Beyond these films, Loki made appearances in Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Black Widow, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The tally, however, remained static. Our Norse god didn’t notch up another kill in these projects.

Consequently, we estimate Loki’s body count to be a minimum of 62 in the MCU. A number that comfortably seats him in the middle tier, relative to other characters.

But context is crucial. Many of Loki’s victims fall into the ‘enemies’ category or impersonal NPCs (non-player characters). Given this information, Loki doesn’t come off as excessively brutal.

Surprisingly, some MCU heroes outstrip Loki’s kill count by a significant margin.

Loki’s Kill Forecast

What’s the future hold for Loki’s kill count? In the much-anticipated Avenger: Doomsday, Loki is set to play a significant role. Whether that will lead to a spike in his body count remains a mystery.

As it stands, Loki isn’t quite the villainous character one might perceive. The numbers back this.

The latest data reflects updates until Deadpool & Wolverine, neither of which feature Loki. So, until the next film release, we’re confident of our Loki kill count.
