James Gunn Unveils Teaser for DC’s Creature Commandos
Ladies and gents, it’s time to prepare your popcorn and buckle up for an unforgettable ride this December. James Gunn (the wizard behind the curtain) has pulled back the velvet drapes and unveiled to the world a tantalizing peek at the animated bombshell, Creature Commandos. This DCU spectacle is set to cap off the year in a blaze of comic book glory.
Moreover, DC Studios dusted off their logo from yesteryears for a much-deserved moment in the spotlight. Stone-cold and vintage, the old emblem has found a new purpose, like a retired superhero who put their cape in storage but just couldn’t resist the call to action.
The official trailer teases the exciting adventure that awaits on the Max Original series, Creature Commandos. Viewers are called to follow Task Force M, helmed by the mastermind, James Gunn himself.
Actions Not Words
This year’s San Diego Comic-Con floor was buzzing more than Barry Allen on five espresso shots, thanks to DC’s impressive line-up of shockers, reveals, and special guests. Amongst the band of talented creators was DC President, Publisher and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee, seen chatting away with friends and top comic writers at the “Jim Lee & Friends” panel.
Talking shop were the comic world’s finest, including Scott Snyder, Joshua Williamson, Tom King, Jeph Loeb, and David Dastmalchian. The Star of the show, however, was DC Studios CEO, co-chairman, and filmmaker extraordinaire James Gunn, who couldn’t contain his excitement about Creature Commandos.
Gunn announced the series from the set of his next highly anticipated film, Superman. Co-produced by DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation, the show follows a covert squad of incarcerated monsters tasked with handling missions too dangerous for your average Joe – or Clark, rather.
Star Talent on Board
The Creature Commandos’ animated train pulls into the station boasting a killer cast, including Steve Agee as Economos, Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana, Anya Chalotra as Circe, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., and several other star-studded names.
Comic book fans brace yourself. David Dastmalchian also spilled news about writing the upcoming horror comic book series, DC Horror Presents: Creature Commandos. Right in time for pumpkin-spiced latte season this October, the six-issue series guarantees ghouls, monsters, and misfits galore.
A Look That’s Worth a Thousand Words
Expressing his excitement about the revival of DC Studios’ vintage logo, James Gunn tweeted, “When Peter and I formed DC Studios we immediately knew what logo we wanted to use.”
It’s time for a little mystery, a dash of comic book magic, and possibly a creature from your wildest nightmares. Buckle up, folks. The stage is set, and the Creature Commandos are ready to take over your screens like never before! Secure your ticket, sit back, relax, and let the show begin.
