“Take A Peek at Amazon’s New Game Show Hosted by Travis Kelce: Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?”
On October 16th, the stage for a unique battle of wits is set, when household names will have to hand over the credit card of intellect to pay the bill of pride in the 20-part Amazon MGM Studios Original series, Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? The show is all about brain power and the deflation of celebrity egos, but with an aspirational, shiny carrot for both celebrity and contestant: a sweet $100,000 prize. A contestant must answer 11 questions, all sourced from various primary school curriculums, with assistance from a classroom of glitterati spanning the realms of pop culture.
Kicking off with a three-episode sensation, the gameshow you thought you knew has been revamped, with Super Bowl Champ Travis Kelce leading the charge. The premium is not just on money, but the much more priceless entities of self-respect and pride.
The exposure of celebrity intellect (or lack thereof) isn’t the only attraction of the upcoming series. The gameshow will also star a range of familiar faces armed with a goal to prove their "smarts" to the world. The celebrity line-up driving the humor quotient includes comic powerhouses Nikki Glaser, Natasha Leggero, Nicole Byer, and Ron Funches to name a few. We’ll also see former NFL wide receiver Chad Ochocinco, Real Housewife of Beverly Hills’ Garcelle Beauvais, and Vijay star Lala Kent. Not to forget, podcaster Sophia Stallone and the creative powerhouse Lilly Singh, will grace the soiree of brains and pride.
Fun With a New Twist
Putting a fresh spin on the concept of the original format, each episode of Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? will feature an adult participant recruiting a star-studded classroom to help them answer a range of questions fished out from elementary curriculum, all heap to a $100,000 jackpot. Here’s the catch, participants are not competing against these celebs, they’re drawing upon their help. In exceptional cases, they can even ‘cheat’ off them. For the final $100,000 question, this intellectual tango narrows down to a duet, with the contestant picking one celebrity to confer over the answer with before locking it in.
Reality TV mastermind Mark Burnett and game-show genius Wes Kauble shoulder the honor of executive production. The lights and cameras are courtesy of MGM Alternative, with Amazon MGM Studios churning out the series globally. The original Emmy-nominated format of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? was given life by the dynamic duo of Barry Poznick and John Steven. Talk about a star-studded behind-the-scenes crew for a star-studded show!
