Stepping Inside Jac Schaeffer’s Marvel Universe

WandaVision’s Jac Schaeffer is back in the saddle, spinning the Marvel Television universe further with her newest venture, Agatha All Along. This series casts the spotlight over Agatha Harkness, brought to life by Kathryn Hahn. Diving deeper into the mystical narratives in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the show marks Schaeffer’s continued success. Recently, Schaeffer unfolded some intriguing details about the show, particularly the decisive demise of Mrs. Hart (Sharon Davis), played by Debra Jo Rupp.

Her choice to Kill Off Sharon Davis in Agatha All Along

By episode 3 of Agatha All Along, Sharon Davis, also known as Mrs. Hart, met her untimely end. It was during the coven’s inaugural trial on the Witches’ Road when the character succumbed to a witchy wine poisoning. Efforts to save her were in vain. When asked about this by Entertainment Weekly, Schaeffer talked about the necessity of introducing “real consequences” within the series, emphasizing that her narrative indeed possessed “teeth.”

She said, “It was so important early in when we figured out we’re doing the Witches’ Road, we’re doing this coven—a hilarious idea—to bring a normie along.” Schaeffer wanted to convey that, despite the underlying humor and spectacle, the series features genuine danger and stakes. This tone shift was crucial for her, as it reinforced that no character is out of danger’s reach within the series.

Make Way for the Normies

Schaeffer introduced non-magical characters such as Mrs. Hart to create a stark contrast with the coven’s mystical nature. She noted Agatha embodies both flamboyance and danger, stating that even amidst all the flashing lights and showmanship, Agatha “can do all the flamboyance, but she’ll cut you.”

The Witching Ensemble

Alongside Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness and Debra Jo Rupp’s Sharon Davis, Agatha All Along features an impressive cast including Ali Ahn, Patti LuPone, Joe Locke, and Sasheer Zamata. They will play crucial roles in the unfolding of the Witches’ Road storyline. This ensemble is set to take us further into the captivating witchcraft narrative.

For an engrossing Wednesday night, buckle up and tune in to the newest episodes of Agatha All Along on Disney Plus.
