MCU Prepping for Post-Hulk Era with New Casting
By August Tales
Launched in 2008 alongside Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk claimed the title of the second entrant in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) line-up. However, it stands apart as one of MCU’s most controversial creations, lacking the status usually associated with other MCU releases.
The sting of controversy stems from layered reasons, but the key controversy arises from the recast of Edward Norton with Mark Ruffalo as Hulk. This instance stands alone as MCU’s most significant recasting, marking the only time a vital hero was replaced.
Impressively, Ruffalo made the role his own and is gearing up for more screen time. Interestingly, rumors from the reliable insider, DanielRPK, suggest that MCU plans to transition into a future with a post-Hulk era or perhaps, multiple Hulks gracing the main MCU (including She-Hulk).
Banner or Cho? The Future Hulk
For those unfamiliar, Amadeus Cho is a relative newcomer, appearing in Marvel’s 2005 portfolio. A brainchild of Greg Pak and Takeshi Miyazawa, Cho consistently contributes in modern Marvel Comics narratives. Though cast as a superhero, his aliases vary across his comic book iterations.
In the comics, Cho wins a “young genius” competition organized by Pythagoras Dupree. Desperate to maintain his sixth-ranking status among the world’s smartest, Dupree endeavors to assassinate Cho but tragically slaughters his parents instead. Cho evades the fatal blow and consequently views the Hulk, who saves him from further harm, as a friend and a reaction to others’ aggression.
No stranger to the superhero troupe, Cho, alongside Angel and Hercules, attempts to tame Hulk during the World War Hulk crossover event, albeit unsuccessfully. Later, in The Totally Awesome Hulk #1 (2015), Cho switches hats with Bruce Banner, reveling in his new acquired skills, unlike Banner who perceived his Hulk powers as a burden.
Amadeus Cho Steps into MCU
DanielRPK alleges that Amadeus Cho will make an entrance into MCU, brought to live-action by Ghostbusters’ Logan Kim. While no storyline details have been publicly shared, it’s clear that Marvel is eyeing the future. Cho may be eased into a minor role before ultimately replacing or working alongside Banner. Regardless of the approach, these developments promise an intriguing narrative progression.
