Their inability to follow guild rules, such as not killing civilians, often leads to sticky situations. Yet, they get away with it, making the series a comic allegory of the gig economy. The narrative cleverly mocks Japanese society’s rule-bound structure and late capitalism.

An Ordinary Day in the Life of an Assassin

The TV series coincides with their third film, “Baby Assassins: Nice Days.” The cinematic storyline unravels as Chisato and Mahiro go on vacation, yet still, they can’t escape their lethal jobs. The miniseries follows the duo as they navigate day-to-day life and an unwanted big job in Tokyo.

While Hollywood scrambles to create high stakes stories for hitman characters, this series offers something different. It places hit people in the mundanity of everyday life. In doing so, “Baby Assassins” finds room for ample laughter and action.
