DC Studios Plans Bane and Deathstroke Film
By August Tales
In a new wave of villain-centric narrative, DC Studios kindles anticipation with a future film starring Bane and Deathstroke. Following the recent release of “Joker: Folie à Deux” and the Colin Farrell-led “The Penguin,” DC’s villain renaissance shows no signs of slowing down.
DC’s Villainous Line-up
According to The Hollywood Reporter, a notable shift in DC’s storytelling method is unfolding. Bane and Deathstroke, two leading rogues in the DC landscape, are pegged to headline their own venture. As yet, it remains unclear whether this project will nestle in the existing universe penned by James Gunn and Peter Safran. Alternatively, like “Joker” and “The Penguin,” it may carve out its own parallel cosmos.
Screenplay’s Creative Mind
Matthew Orton, notable for his work on Marvel’s “Captain America: Brave New World” and television series “The Devil’s Peak,” is authoring the screenplay. As well as his contributions on Marvel’s “Moon Knight” series, Orton penned the critically-acclaimed “Operation Finale” in 2018. Despite these exciting tidbits, fans will have to hold their breath; significant details like the director, casting, and narrative arc remain shrouded.
The Legacy of Bane and Deathstroke
Bane and Deathstroke are no strangers to fans of the DC universe. Debuting in 1993, Bane left indelible marks in “Batman: Vengeance of Bane #1” and had several live-action portrayals. His memorable instances include Robert Swenson and Michael Reid MacKay’s performances in “Batman & Robin” (1997). More recently, Tom Hardy gave a haunting rendition in “The Dark Knight Rises” (2012), with Shane West also taking up the mantle in “Gotham.”
On the other hand, Deathstroke toggles roles between the “Teen Titans” and “Batman” as a formidable villain. Marv Wolfman and George Pérez birthed this legendary character into existence, with Joe Manganiello donning the mask in the 2017 “Justice League.” Fans would also recall Manu Bennett’s portrayal of Slade Wilson on The CW’s “Arrow.”
As DC Studios continues its villain-focused narrative course, fans are left in eager anticipation. With the rich history of Bane and Deathstroke, the possibilities for this emerging project seem endless. Stay tuned as we await further developments from DC’s rogue-laden universe.
