Stranger Things Season 5: Betting Odds Predict Character Deaths
As the saying goes, all good things must end, and our love affair with Stranger Things is no exception. Netflix’s hit show will deliver its final ’80s nostalgia trip with season five. To end it with a bang rather than a whimper, some characters will likely meet their demise in Hawkins, Indiana.
The Likely Martyrs of the Upside Down
Thanks to the number fanatics at SportsCasting, we have data on who might meet an untimely end. The odds-on favorite is Jamie Campbell Bower’s Vecna, with odds of -10000. Even in the Upside Down, can anyone see the main antagonist surviving the apocalypse?
Next is the unlucky Will Byers, played by Noah Schnapp, with odds of -200. He’s the kid who was kidnapped by a Demogorgon and rescued from the Upside Down. Poetic, isn’t it? A fan petition to kill Will following Schnapp’s controversial social media comments might have affected his odds too, but who’s counting?
Following closely are Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven (-137) and David Harbour’s Jim Hopper (-120), both familiar with near-death experiences. Are we looking at a heroic death here? Rounding out the deathwatch is Steve Harrington, played by Joe Keery, with odds of +150.
Taking Chances Beyond Hawkins
The list doesn’t stop there. We also have Sadie Sink’s Max Mayfield (+200), who cheated death in the previous season. Dying next season might seem far-fetched, but never bet against the artistic choices of Netflix showrunners. Here are the wagering odds to keep you entertained:
- Vecna/Henry Creel/One (-10000)
- Will Byers (-200)
- Eleven (-137)
- Jim Hopper (-120)
- Steve Harrington (+150)
- Max Mayfield (+200)
- Dustin Henderson (+300)
- Jonathan Byers (+300)
- Lucas Sinclair (+350)
- Mike Wheeler (+400)
- Nancy Wheeler (+400)
- Joyce Byers (+500)
- Karen Wheeler (+500)
- Murray Bauman (+500)
- Robin Buckley (+600)
- Vickie (+800)
- Erica Sinclair (+1000)
Favorite Characters Risking It All
If Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin, had his way, there would be more blood and tears. He said, “It might sound messed up, but we should kill more people. This show would be better if the stakes were higher. Like at any moment, any of these kids can kick it. We’re all too safe.”
The Final Act Awaits
While a release date hasn’t been set for Stranger Things’ final season, we can bet on its inevitable commotion in 2025. Let the Hawkins roulette spin until then, as we await the final walk down the strange lanes of 1980s nostalgia.
