The Return of SilverHawks: A Nostalgic Ride for Fans
Dynamite Comics is poised to launch a nostalgia-filled journey. February marks the return of SilverHawks, a beloved classic. This comic revival promises to bring the excitement of yesteryears into today’s world.
A Glimpse into Limbo’s Creative Minds
Brought to life by writer Ed Brisson and artist George Kambadais, SilverHawks is ready to soar once more. Joining them in their creative endeavor are cover artists Lucio Parrillo, Jae Lee & June Chung, and others. Fans can expect spectacular art as these seasoned artists bring their A-game to the covers.
Ed Brisson, a long-time fan, reveals, "SilverHawks never received the love they deserved." The unique sci-fi police procedural mash-up was overshadowed by ThunderCats, its Rankin-Bass sibling. However, Brisson believes there’s untapped lore ready to be unearthed.
Kambadais adds, "It’s about expanding the show’s saga while working with old and new talent." His nostalgia for the show fuels his artistic passion.
Appealing to Both Old and New Fans
Balancing fan expectations, Brisson aims to delve deeper into character backstories. The characters’ origins and their experiences under Mon*Star’s reign will unfold, providing a rich base for newcomers.
"We intend to satisfy long-time fans and entice new readers," Brisson says. "The story digs deeper, showcasing each character’s journey to joining the SilverHawks. It’s an inclusive starting point for fresh faces in Limbo."
Kambadais feels, "Both new and old fans will enjoy this ride as much as I do creating it."
Classic Characters and Fresh Narratives
Familiar faces, including Quicksilver, Steelwill, and Stargazer, return along with intriguing new additions. Fans will also enjoy the introduction of Hotwing earlier than in the original series.
On the villainous side, the notorious Mon*Star and his band of cosmic miscreants are set to wreak havoc. "Bluegrass was my childhood favorite, a rock ‘n roll space cowboy," Brisson fondly recalls. He’s also thrilled for fans to see the renewed take on Hotwing.
Imposing Personal Touches on a Timeless Tale
George Kambadais finds joy in contributing to his childhood idol’s legacy. "I’m fulfilling my 10-year-old self’s dream," he remarks with nostalgia.
Brisson appreciates the creative freedom to expand and reinvent. "The fun lies in giving familiar tales a fresh twist," he reveals. "Exploring who the SilverHawks were before uniting enriches their story. Nothing is changed; it’s pure addition."
Future Crossover Possibilities and Galactic Dreams
The team considers a potential crossover with Thundercats as a fan-favorite idea. Kambadais speculates, "A Voltron crossover could bring exciting narratives." Brisson agrees, suggesting these universes feel naturally intertwined.
SilverHawks flies back into fans’ hands on February 5. Prepare to enter a galaxy where nostalgia meets new adventures—guaranteed to captivate audiences old and new.
