Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza Lands in Hawaii

Sega Brings High Seas Adventure with ‘Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii’

In the latest drop from Ryu ga Gotoku Studio, Sega teased fans with a fresh trailer for the long-awaited "Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii." Released on Thursday, this sneak peek lets gamers glimpse into the upcoming narrative. The trailer, narrated by pro wrestling sensation Samoa Joe, who delivers the role of Raymond Law in English, lasers in on the pounding plot.

Exciting Early Release

Initially slated for February 28, Sega dialed the release date back to February 21. This worldwide launch hit consoles across the board—PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One—as well as Windows and Steam.

The game’s protagonist, the charismatic Goro Majima, wakes bereft of memory. Set half a year post the events in "Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth," Majima washes ashore to craft his legend as a pirate leader.

Vibrant Gameplay and New Horizons

Three main locations anchor the player’s exploration—Hawaii, Rich Island, and Madlantis. With a ship to command, players chart their path among diverse islands. The post-launch patch promises New Game+ as free DLC—a notable shift from its predecessor’s paid DLC strategy.

Pre-orders for any edition—standard, deluxe, or collector’s—come loaded with bonuses. Players snag the Ichiban Kasuga Pirate Crew & Special Outfit. This package includes Ichiban and fan-favorite Nancy the crawfish in the pirate mix, plus a duo of chic Ichiban outfits.

Exclusive Edition Perks

The deluxe edition brims with treasures: a Legendary Pirate Crew Pack, plus packs for ship and outfit customization. Karaoke enthusiasts get extra tunes and a CD pack to boot. The collector’s edition takes it further. It includes all the deluxe goodies, alongside collectibles like an acrylic standee, eye patch, treasure coin pin, and a pirate flag.

The predecessor, "Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth," landed on various platforms in January 2024. It extended Yakuza: Like a Dragon’s rich storyline. This eighth chapter in the franchise was first announced back in September 2022.

At The Game Awards on December 12, Sega and Ryu ga Gotoku Studio also unveiled "Project Century." For now, the mystery project teases another layer of intrigue in Sega’s thriving universe.
