AAA Game Explores Avatar: The Last Airbender’s Past
By August Tales
With a legacy that spans decades, Avatar: The Last Airbender left a deep impact. Nowadays, it occupies fans with a range of content — from live-action TV shows to animated films. Its characters, Aang and Korra, garnered a captive fanbase that eagerly supports this franchise. Current developments have tipped off an intriguing direction for Avatar, an exploration of the past through a prequel.
The prequel aims to explore the pre-Kyoshi timeline. Under Paramount Game Studios’ umbrella, an AAA game is in progress. Working diligently to stitch together an immersive experience, Saber Interactive is crafting the narrative.
Connecting the Past with Avatar Legends
As reported by IGN, the AAA RPG is in the works, geared at launching the Avatar Legends universe. No title has been released yet. However, in an exciting partnership with Avatar Studios, the series’ creators are ensuring the prequel aligns with the overarching canon.
Venturing into uncharted territories, the game takes Avatar millennia back. According to Paramount Game Studios, we’ll meet an unfamiliar-avatar and delve into an ancient world. Saber Interactive, the development studio, further tantalizes fans with its promise to integrate the upcoming game deeply with the original series.
Here’s what the fans can anticipate: integration into a lively world, mastery over the four elements, engaging combat scenarios, and a fair dose of challenges. Does a taste of the Avatar’s world sound enticing?
“Everyone at Saber follows the IPs we work with,” shared Josh Austin, Head of IP Development & Licensing at Saber Interactive. He added that the collaboration with Avatar Studios and Paramount Games aims to broaden the Avatar Legends universe within the realm of video games.
The Past Holds the Keys for Avatar’s Future
This prequel’s arrival begins to fill in gaps in the Avatar universe, much to the anticipation of the fans. While no specific narrative details are out yet, there’s a thirst for discovery. Hints about the ancient history of the world can be found in Kyoshi’s novels and in The Legend of Korra.
Korra brought forth the existence and significance of Vaatu and Raava, entities that played pivotal roles in Avatar’s world formation. Additionally, elements of the Avatar’s world origin story, such as the creation of the physical world by Tui and La, alongside the birth of the first Avatar, Wan, leave bountiful room for exploration for the new AAA title’s storyline.
So what’s your take on this fresh Avatar update? Keen to explore a new installment of the Avatar universe? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
