Blades of Glory: The Final Cut?
Ryan Reynolds, the beloved red-and-black-clad antihero, recently delighted fans with a glimpse of Wesley Snipes in Deadpool & Wolverine. Snipes, reprising his role as the vampire-slayer, brought back the nostalgic thrill of his bloodsucking adventures from the early 2000s.
But Reynolds isn’t stopping at nostalgia. He’s challenging Marvel fans globally, urging them to campaign for a Snipes-led Blade finale. He envisions a grand farewell for Blade, akin to the honor given to Logan in Hugh Jackman’s last Wolverine film.
Reynolds’ Rallying Cry
Reynolds, never one to shy away from social media, took to Twitter to push for Snipes’ return. “There is no Fox Marvel Universe or MCU without Blade first creating a market,” Reynolds tweeted, acknowledging Blade’s pivotal role in Marvel’s success. “He’s Marvel Daddy. Please retweet for a Logan-like send off,” he added, sharing four photos of Snipes in his iconic Blade attire.
Wesley Snipes, the man behind the vampire hunter, is open to the idea. At Comic-Con, Snipes enthusiastically shared his positive experience revisiting the character.
A Cryptic Call and a New Hope
Snipes recalled a cryptic text from Reynolds that set the wheels in motion. “He called and told me, ‘I have an idea,’ and he told me what the idea was. I said, ‘If you can make it happen, sure, I’ll come and do it.’” This hesitant agreement has since turned into an exciting possibility for fans.
Despite initial skepticism about another Blade movie, Marvel’s commitment to a reboot with Mahershala Ali, and the sheer unlikelihood of such a comeback, Reynolds’ call changed Snipes’s perspective.
Keeping the cameo a secret was no small feat. Snipes described it as “very, very challenging,” adding, “It makes you want to do more Marvel films.” Talk about a tantalizing cliffhanger.
A Final Hunt on the Horizon?
With Reynolds and Snipes leading the charge, fans might yet see the vampire-slayer rise for one last hunt. So, pack your wooden stakes and polish your silver bullets. The final chapter of Blade could be closer than you think.
