“Batman Returns for Special Penguin Screening”
Holy One-Night Run, Batman!
Heads up, caped crusader enthusiasts: your phone booth change isn’t due for retirement just yet. Warner Bros. has heralded the return of the midnight vigilante, The Batman, to select theaters — for one night only. This smoky encore is precursory to a special fan event promoting the much-anticipated The Penguin series launching on HBO this September.
Careening back into selected AMC theaters around the globe for one heroic night, The Batman will shimmer onto U.S. silver screens on Wednesday, August 28, and internationally on a date proximal to the 28th. This glorious night of fanfare celebrates the inaugural flight of the HBO Original series, The Penguin.
Lost in Translation? Not This Time
At this do-or-die, popcorn-included screening, fans will retread the dark, twisted alleys of Gotham City with Robert Pattinson leading the justice bandwagon as Batman. But wait, there’s more: they’ll be going home with a free poster and an exclusive sneak peek into the making of The Penguin. Moving straight from the horse’s mouth are series star Colin Farrell, producers Matt Reeves, Dylan Clark, Michael Tolmach, along with Lauren LeFranc (she writes and plays showrunner, by the way) and Craig Zobel (who managed to direct the first three episodes).
Jeff Goldstein and Andrew Cripps, who run Domestic and International Distribution for Warner Bros. Pictures respectively, could barely contain their excitement. According to them, The Batman’s colossal success post-2022 release and the positive response garnered by Colin Farrell’s Penguin rendition has fueled their enthusiasm to bring it back to theaters.
A Vision Came to Life
Matt Reeves’ fresh take on DC’s globally iconic Super Hero turned heads critically and commercially. The blockbuster The Batman raked in a whopping $772 million at the worldwide box office in its initial theatrical run in Q1 of 2022. Thanks to Farrell’s portrayal of Oz/The Penguin, fan enthusiasm was well kindled, leading to Reeves and showrunner Lauren LeFranc developing a limited series.
Finer Details of The Penguin’s Flight
The Penguin, a feather-ruffling HBO Original limited series from the blacksmiths at Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios, will make its debut on September 19, 2024, on HBO and HBO Max. Let’s not forget our international allies. The UK, France, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, and South Korea will also have the film available in Dolby Cinema with Dolby Atmos leaving no stone unturned to bring the Gothamesque experience to life.
A Little Drop of Poison, Anyone?
There’s no such thing as a friendly reminder when The Penguin’s involved. But just so you know, tickets have already gone on sale. AMC and Dolby will bring 100 Dolby Cinema screens across the U.S in partnership with the studio. Everyone in the audience gets a mini-poster featuring new art. But remember, only while the Bat-Signal burns.
