The Fantastic Four is Set in a Specific Historical Period…

“Fantastic Four Film Confirmed as Period Piece”

Fantastic Four: Rewinding Time

In a startling revelation that shouldn’t startle anyone keeping an eye on teaser artwork, Marvel Comics maestro Kevin Fiege confirmed the working vibe of Marvel’s upcoming "Fantastic Four" movie. Not that anyone asked him to spill the beans, mind you, during the debut episode of The Official Marvel Podcast.

When the show’s host slid the question about the teasers dripping with retro charm, Fiege, a man of many secrets, decided to temporarily retire his cap of obscurity and said, "It is a period [piece]".

Blast from the Past

Joining the dots, Fiege elucidated further about another piece of art they had released with Johnny Storm flying sky-high, making a 4-symbol, and a rather anachronistically depicted cityscape in the corner. Fiege was spot-on with his words, asserting that those eagle-eyed fans who noticed that the cityscape hinting at 1960s New York City looks slightly off, were making smart observations.

Well, if we dig deeper into this Dumbledore-ish revelation, the artwork clearly launches us back into a 60’s-inspired skyline that’s not entirely loyal to factual New York City. We do wonder which building touts the honor of being the Fantastic Four’s homestead, the famous Baxter Building?

The Foursome Reveal

Providing face to the long-awaited Fantastic Four will be Pedro Pascal answering the call to be Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby with her invisibly palpable aura as the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn blazing as The Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach daring to become The Thing. With the directorial magic wand in the hands of WandaVision’s Matt Shakman, the foursome’s future looks pretty fantastic.

Save the Date

Holding its premiere behind a curtain of suspense, the film is currently set to take over the cinema on July 25, 2025. America’s Comic-Con attendees, here’s a treat for you: Fiege unfurled that the film shifts into production the Monday following this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Great news with an odd sense of timing, wouldn’t you say?

While we await more teasers, fan theories, and a healthy dose of speculation, the Marvel Universe maps the path ahead. Buckle up as we prepare to rewind time with the "Fantastic Four". Don’t forget to pluck in a few ’60s-appropriate expressions. We’re in for quite a ride.
