Ahead of Schedule: Rockstar Games Keeps Fans Guessing

For avid followers of the Grand Theft Auto universe, the wait for GTA 6 release is potent. And it seems it just got lengthier. The 2025 release date, a commitment from Rockstar Games, is now rumored to shift to 2026.

Sounds dubious? We thought so too, until we heard it from Liam of GTA Base. Notoriously, he leaked the GTA 6’s reveal trailer date—predating the mainstream sources. So, he’s someone worth listening to.

Delay in Delivery: Why 2025 May Turn to 2026

Liam cites “multiple developers across two studios” as the source. Add to this, Rockstar Games is asking for more time. As a result, we could be looking at a delay to early or mid-2026. The expected Q3/Q4 2025 release date came straight from Rockstar Games. So, if they stick to their word, it wouldn’t be a major delay – yet adds a full calendar year’s wait for the franchise fans.

A Long Wait for the PC Version

As for the PC release, it’s cast into future uncertainty. We’re looking at a 12 to 18-month gap post the console release. The math hints at a late 2027 release date for PC GTA 6 enthusiasts.

Interestingly, all we have so far is a rumor. Yet, experience shows rumors invariably propel truth to surface. As of now, no other sources have come forward to corroborate this information.

Typically, Rockstar Games has refrained from commenting on rumors. Particularly, if they’re unfounded. It’s highly likely they wouldn’t budge on this one either, regardless of the rumor’s veracity. As the rumor surfaced in its nascent hours, if Rockstar Games plans to make a move, it could be anytime soon, likely within the next business week.
