Wesley Snipes Could Make a Multiverse Return in the MCU’s Blade
The venerated return of Snipes, for the first time since Blade: Trinity aired in 2004, produced a flurry of goodwill from fans. Typical to human nature, we can’t have too much of a good thing, so why not have Snipes and Ali? Dramatic, I know, but bear with me here.
The Quagmire of Two Blades
When Blade was announced as the latest visitor to the MCU, it was a whole 15 years after Snipes had hung up his fangs. Keen to move with times, the audience graciously accepted Ali to continue the legacy. Fast-forward five years, Blade has yet to grace the screens, and Snipes has resurfaced in Deadpool & Wolverine. Let’s just say, Snipes’ reprisal was pretty much the cherry on top.
Two Can Surely Tango
Stirring the pot a bit in Deadpool & Wolverine, Snipes blazoned his Blade legacy stating, “There is only one Blade. There is only ever gonna be one Blade.” While everyone respects the OG Blade, the MCU is no stranger to breaking barriers. Picture this: Snipes and Ali, two slaying versions of Blade in one movie. A canonical conundrum but much like a car crash, you can’t look away.
A cinematic marvel (pun intended) of Snipes and Ali dynamically delivering different renditions of Blade could be nothing short of stellar. The plot could revolve around their individuality and commonality, ending with Snipes passing the proverbial torch to Ali to continue the Blade chronicles.
A Blade Duo Can Validate the Multiverse Saga
The most lauded films post-Avengers: Endgame have inculcated the multiverse in their setting like Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Deadpool & Wolverine. Blade could follow in these footsteps and solidify its position in the Multiverse Saga with both Snipes and Ali in the roster. It could add depth to the multiverse before the grand finale of Avengers: Secret Wars.
If the MCU champions this idea, then the Blade reboot could be instrumental in linking key plot elements of the Multiverse Saga. Snipes is etched in comic fandom, with Blade paving the path for the X-Men, Spider-Man, and the MCU. Thus, his underpinning role in Deadpool & Wolverine could add an extra layer of intrigue to Blade’s reboot. We’re certainly picturing the spectacular sight of Snipes and Ali joining forces against the vampire elite.
