“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Stranger Things Launch a Comic Series”
Cameron Chittock, known for his marvel in ‘Mapmakers’, is the masterful scribe weaving the narratives together, with the art, a tribute to the era, drawn by the hand of TMNT comic supernova, Fero Pe.
The sojourner group – Eleven, Max, Dustin, Mike, Will, and Lucas have packed up dreams of tranquil sightseeing and travelled far from the eerie abstactness of their hometown to the pulsing concrete jungle that is New York City. But tranquility is a far cry as they come face-to-face with a strange yet familiar danger. The antidote to this danger? Teaming up with a quartet of reptiles – their own kind of unconventional.
Chittock excitedly expresses his zeal, having harboured long-standing affection for the Ninja Turtles. In his perspective, Stranger Things seizes your attention from the first binge, making it feel almost like a constant presence, an emotion he credits to the creative trio of Eastman, Laird, and the Duffer brothers. Being able to merge these two worlds together has been nothing short of a surreal adventure, filled with a mission to script moments worthy of their elevated standards.
Pe, equally thrilled to be an artist on this collaborative project, aims to create a unique aesthetic for the comic book, a titillating blend of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the nostalgic charm of Stranger Things. The style being strongly influenced by the original Turtles comics from Mirage, he hopes, will invigorate the fans of both universes.
Enthused Jonathan Manning, the editor at IDW, highlights the nostalgic value of bringing together these two brands. The TMNT being the progeny of 80s comics, combined with the gang from Hawkins, whom he believes definitely has the celebrated issue #1 of TMNT lying around somewhere, are bound to deliver a marvellous celebration of these legacy franchises.
The first issue of this magnum opus will be available in a cluster of enticing variants, including those drawn by series artist, Fero Pe, Jorge Corona of Batgirls fame, Jenn Woodall known for Sleeping Beauties, Adam Gorham celebrated for Jughead: The Hunger, and the rare retailer incentive variants such as those by Rafael Albuquerque from Detective Comics and Daniel Warren Johnson’s famous Murder Falcon.
