D23 Teases ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Plots
A Daring Peek at D23
Packed with excitement just short of a Marvel-crazed fan hoarding comic books, this year’s D23 event was nothing short of electric. Leading the charge of suspense was a teaser trailer for the anticipated ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’ Ready those Daredevil googles, folks, because this promises to be good.
This sneak peek came with a dash of revelation, hinting at what fans can expect. The particularly pesky Muse makes the villain list, and the elusive White Tiger manages a cameo – both entrances settling the dust on earlier rumors. Bullseye? He starts the season behind bars, probably putting silver spoons to better use than prison cutlery.
Intrigue and Helmets
The cryptic soup continues to simmer with the trailer pointing towards a potential detente between Matt Murdock and Kingpin. However, given their history, it’s as stable as a drunken flamingo on a tightrope. The plot thickens with hints at connections to the Young Avengers, specifically through the presence of Yusuf Khan.
In helm-filling news, the trailer flaunts several helmet designs, teasing the idea of Daredevil packing more suits than a Vegas magician. Not entirely surprising, Daredevil has a closet history that boasts a kaleidoscopic range: The Netflix series tested three suit styles, whilst MCU’s good old ‘She-Hulk’ paraded his well-recognized red and gold number. Set leaks have revealed a fresh fashion approach for our man Daredevil, and thanks to the teaser, multiple spanking-new helmet designs are now on the radar, including an interesting black one.
From Dark Suits to Red Suits
Back in 2010, during the ‘Shadowland’ crossover, Daredevil had a dark episode of his own. After hijacking the Hand, he succumbed to the cult’s demonic leader, Beast, who convinced him to lead them on an unusual crime-fighters’ path. Hello’s Kitchen was transformed into a rather spirity jail, and Daredevil earned sartorial points for an all-black ensemble, topped with a fiery red logo and eyes.
Once Beast was kicked out of his soul, Daredevil hung up his dark uniform for some self-reflection, only to return to fashion in a third black suit: a fusion of the Shadowland attire, with red boots, gloves, escrima sticks, and a new logo. Daredevil roamed in his black attire – his signature look, you might say – until he decided to return to his classic red in 2018.
